• The AANEWS Guest Opinion Column is open to atheists or others who consider themselves to be “nonbelievers” of some sort. We do not sponsor a debate forum on “the existence of God” or other related topics. We suggest alt.atheism, bulletin boards and other venues for those discussions. The Column is designed as a voice and forum for atheists to comment on timely matters.
  
  
• We encourage submitted writings to be in the form of a commentary on current news matters, legislation, political developments and other timely topics. Kindly cite, if possible, any pertinent news sources. Your topic should be related to atheism and/or the separation of church and state.
  
  
• In keeping with our organizational policy, we will not print personal or ad hominem attacks, especially on other atheist or freethought groups and their members. We prefer that individuals and representatives of groups who engage in these practices publish elsewhere. In considering submissions, we emphasize citations and editorial substance over name-calling.
  
  
• We identify the author of the Guest Opinion Column. Please let us know if you also want an e-mail or other address included. You may also include a brief one or two sentence sketch of who you are.
  
  
• The Guest Opinion Column is not a calendar for announcing events, advertising for groups, products or businesses, or calling for the endorsement of a specific candidate for public office. We encourage you to comment on news, issues and ideas.
  
  
• If you are replying to a Guest Opinion Column, please provide the AANEWS issue number, date, title and author.
  
  
• All Guest submissions should be sent as e-mail. Please try to avoid sending your column as an attached file.
  
  
• We cannot promise to print all submitted material due to space and other constraints.
