What’s offensive and threatening is that millions of people will claim that their religion’s leaders, supposedly selected by god itself, are immune to the laws of society. Isn’t the elevation of leaders to demigod status how people justified the holocaust?

Pedophiles will never shake the foundations of our civilization, but a few million people who believe that some politicians are “holy” could, and have in the past.
