OK America, Place Your Bets

ORANGE, Calif. (AP) — The wife of televangelist Benny Hinn has filed for divorce from the high-profile pastor, whose reputation as an advocate of prosperity gospel has attracted millions of followers and criticism from lawmakers and watchdog groups over his lavish lifestyle.

Suzanne Hinn filed the papers in Orange County Superior Court on Feb. 1, citing irreconcilable differences, after more than 30 years of marriage. The papers note the two separated on Jan. 26 and that Hinn has been living in Dana Point, a wealthy coastal community in southern Orange County.

“Pastor Benny Hinn and his immediate family were shocked and saddened to learn of this news without any previous notice,” Benny Hinn Ministries said Thursday in a statement. “Although Pastor Hinn has faithfully endeavored to bring healing to their relationship, those efforts failed and were met with the petition for divorce that was filed without notice.”

Hinn is one of the best known advocates of the prosperity gospel, which teaches that Christians who are right with God will be rewarded with wealth and health in this lifetime.

    I predict:
    * Irreconcilable differences
    * Out-of-court settlement
    * Neither party permitted to make public comment.

      I’m going to say represed sexual frustration as power tends to corrupt, and indivuals who think they are above the laws of men (hell he is GODs right hand henchmen) tend to do what they want until they are caught then they want forgivness like Swaggart did even made him more of a man of god in there eyes.

    My guess is he cheated on her.

    I predict she’ll say it’s irreconcilable differences because she’ll be too ashamed to admit she wasn’t enough to attract her husband and keep him from cheating on her.

  3. Isn’t this that idiot who does the ‘speaking in tongues’ bit? Mighty handy when you’re talking to the press:
    “Mr. Hinn, do you have any comment on why you’re wife is leaving you?”
    “Well, you see, frassen de freebin frobben guntale passto.”
    When you’re crazy AND religious, it’s easier to get away w/serious mental illness.

    I cast my vote for another woman/women.My question is if we were more of a social democracy think norway would this gospel of prosperity flourish i think not.Doesn’t gospel of prosperity make the case for treating religion like a business in regards to taxation/regulation.Since you are basically trying to purchase prosperity from a god.Why not treat religion like some kind of insurance company.

    No, jews arent greedy. Not at all.

    • avatar peters says:

      So David thinks it is fraud. Has he been charged with fraud? No. Yet Madoff, Rothstein and many other religious jews have. Some are even in prison or awaiting sentencing but there has no been a peep about this from David Silverman. Why? Lyoyd I-am-doing-god’s-work Blankfein has done more than any other single person to bring on our Great Recession but David has written nothing about this morally challenged bastard. Why? Because he hasn’t been charged yet? Neither has Hinn. So why David, why do you persist with giving jews a pass on this NoGodBlog?

    I hope this was satire, or perhaps rosalind has never been cheated on. This is not what cheating is about.

    It is interesting that Madoff hasn’t been mentioned (or any jews for that matter) on any NoGodBlog posts.

    A couple of years ago, this blog used to flourish with lots of readers and their interesting posts but I think that attendance has dwindled since it has became evident that David is partial toward one particular religion. If you’re gonna bash religion, ya might as well bash them all.

    *gulp* Does any AA funding come from jews? Just wondering. There’s gotta be a motive for ignoring them in this blog.

    The common thread seems to be greed.Be it christian tv preachers,jewish wall street tycoons or muslim sheiks all seem to be driven by greed.The old saying money is the root of evil still appears valid and so many are never content the more they get the more they want.
    Which is more better suited for morality- capitalism,socialism,communism?

    • avatar DNAunion says:

      Should be, “The love of money is the root of all evil.”

    • avatar Deuscaritasest says:

      Money is not the root of all evil. Money is a tool that can be used for good or for evil. The cure for greed is gratitude, a gratitude for what you have and for the many gifts you have been given which allowed you to build what you have built. Greed is not limited to religion, it is a human condition. As to which system is better suited for morality, that would depend upon your definition of morality. For me, what is moral is that which promotes the highest good for myself and those around me. Capitalism, of the three systems mentioned, is the best suited toward that morality because my success depends upon the success of those around me. For instance, were I to own a store I cannot expect to have any measure of success if my community is not prospering. I am, therefore, encouraged to support the prosperity of my community and to participate in it because my success hinges upon their success. It is a positive feedback loop. Those businesses that sell out their communities for short term gains will collapse and die out eventually. Capitalism encourages people to take personal responsibility for their lives and to see themselves as capable of changing their circumstances by changing their behavior. Socialism is actively destructive to society. It encourages people to turn over their responsibilities and freedoms to the government. They have no incentive to help others or even themselves because they believe it is the government’s responsibility to do that. They do not see their behavior as causing their problems but see themselves as the helpless victims of circumstances beyond their control. If this sounds familiar, it is because America is strongly trending toward socialism right now. People are looking to the government to save them from situations they have created, choosing the easy and comfortable path of blaming others and waiting to be rescued rather than the path which is more difficult but more virtuous of taking responsibility and working toward the change. Communism pretends to create a nation of brotherhood but the system forces charitable giving and communal living, which builds resentment toward those you are forced to help. True charity cannot be forced but must be freely chosen.
