The Official Superbowl Post

Arguably, the most important day of the year is the Superbowl. I said arguably.

This is our annual thread to post whatever you want about the most important sporting event in the history of the Universe. Who does god want to win? Did the Tebow ad have any effect on you or your party? Cheers or jeers?

  1. I’m just watching for the commercials. I’ll be sloshed by halftime, anyway.

Boy, do I love a good Superbowl party. Wish I didn’t have to be at work in the morning.

I’d like to see the Saints win, if just for the fact they’ve never taken the win before.

B.O.R.I.N.G which is just my way of saying that I’m too queer to watch football.

The what? Superbowl? Oh, umm… ok. I’ll just be over here not watching it. I don’t do sports XD

I realize why you don’t participate in religion. It’s absurd.

But c’mon people! NFL football is fun! 21st century gladiatorial battles. In High Def!

And I don’t believe I’m amiss if I say that it is (admittedly marginally) on our side. Brett Favre probably keeps more people from church than atheism does.

Superbowl Sunday is an awesome time to be out & about in the world, it’s like we non-watchers have the place to ourselves. But, I’ll probably just hang out here with the computer today, I have 1000+ unread in my Google Reader Atheism category :)

    Go “NO SAINTS”, yeah!

  7. lennyr says:

Frankly, the folks in NO were so screwed by the Federal government that it’s good to see anything that lifts their spirits. Seeing the crowd in Bourbon St made me feel good.

Having said that, we have already been treated to “God is great” from the NO quarterback, so I guess we are supposed to believe that the key interception in the fourth period occurred only because God kind of pushed the ball just a bit so it could be intercepted. Yuk!

In perspective, athletic achievers have been heroes for all of recorded history. You don’t have to be “into” sports to admire achievement in any area of life.

I don’t ritualistically watch sports, but I love getting together with the fam and friends to watch this particular game each year. Plus, if you’re not in favor of any particular team, always find someone to put some money down on it, it makes it way more enjoyable. Thanks to the Saints, I’m 50 bucks richer and was able to find motivation to get really annoying while going into halftime 16-17… and getting downright obnoxious when they made that play near the end of the 4th qtr. Go Saints!
