The faithless came out in droves this past weekend as about 50 people came out for the Combination Humanlight and Winter Solstice Weekend. This was the first time (to my knowledge) that an actual combination weekend event was held across multiple organizations. The Humanists had their Humanlight event on Saturday, followed by a combo BYOB party at the hotel, followed the next day by the Solstice party at the Center.
The attendance was severely reduced due to one heck of a winter storm, but still a good time was had by all. Thanks to those who came up from DC and VA to attend, and of course a special thanks to Ed Buckner for coming up from Georgia.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Cecil Bothwell, who is the atheist councilman from NC whose appointment is being challenged by religious bigots on the grounds that he is not a theist, will be speaking at our convention in April! Mark your calendars now!

The Israelis are harvesting and selling human organs illegally. Their motivation is largely religious. Why do you not blog about such consequential matters yet obsess about the perennial and inconsequential “War on Xmas”?

Illegal harvesting of organs is driven by MONEY, not religion. Some religions refusing to donate doesn’t mean those religions are motivating it.

God will it never end, and of course it wont end until someone gets off their arses and actually begins challenging the Christian religion on their claims to authority and power. While applaud Michael Newdows efforts on the Atheist front challenging the Christians in courts are long and drawn out efforts, and while a win this way is good, there is no way to guarantee that the Christian evangelicals appointed by Bush the Son would rule under the rule of law, instead of ruling upon their evangelical beliefs.
Just wondering how many Atheists here actually stop in at Michaels Newdows website, just to thank him for his efforts, maybe make a donation or simply let him know that his efforts are appreciated?

Barry is a few years older then me and is a Christian appearently one of the good ones from what the internest search turned up, his only down side that I could see is that he identifies himself as christian.

Obama has made a mistake in this. He should have put the health care issue on the back burner when the extent of Republican willingness to do a scorch earth policy and that he did not have the demacratic support. The deals made to get this watered down version through invalidates the goodness of the health care bill.
