Incredibly, President George W. Bush told French President Jacques Chirac in early 2003 that Iraq must be invaded to thwart Gog and Magog, the Bible’s satanic agents of the Apocalypse.
Honest. This isn’t a joke. The president of the United States, in a top-secret phone call to a major European ally, asked for French troops to join American soldiers in attacking Iraq as a mission from God.
Now out of office, Chirac recounts that the American leader appealed to their “common faith” (Christianity) and told him: “Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East…. The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled…. This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people’s enemies before a New Age begins.”

Thursday, August 6th, 2009But can they Cure Christianity?
Thursday, August 6th, 2009CNN: “The [American Psychological Association's] governing Council of Representatives passed a resolution Wednesday [8/5/09] urging mental health professionals not to recommend to their clients that they can change their sexual orientation through therapy or any other methods.”
Programs to change gays to straights don’t work, report says: CNN
Article:
At the end of the article is a quote from a writer who claims to be living proof and just happens to have written a book on the subject. Imagine how inflated his numbers must be… he claims homosexuality is curable about 33% of the time. Everyone else — those not selling books — claims to disagree.
I love that. The American Psychological Association goes into how damaging these processes may be, how much they can hurt people, and who insists the doctors are wrong? Immoral, money-grubbing, people-hurting Christians. Again.
YAWN! Didn’t I just write this?

A state senator from Tennessee who has repeatedly railed against gay rights and condemned sex outside of marriage is vacating his seat after it was revealed that he had a sexual relationship with a 22-year-old intern.
Sen. Paul Stanley was first confronted with the accusations a month ago, but called himself a victim of rumors. However, as further details emerged, Stanley’s words became less credible. He admitted to investigators that he had had an affair with intern McKensie Morrison and that he had taken explicit photos of her in his Nashville apartment.
Morrison’s former boyfriend Joel Watts discovered the photos and reportedly threatened to publish them. Watts has since admitted to authorities that he tried to extort the senator for $10,000 in exchange for the photos’ return, a deal Stanley considered, according to the Associated Press.
The Memphis Republican was a supporter, and sometimes sponsor, of several antigay bills in the state senate.
OK So first of all, Sorry it’s been so long. It’s been stormy here in Dave-land.
But really? ANOTHER Christian right-wing sex scandal? Another anti-gay “pro-family” wing nut cheating on his wife? Really?
Let me make a point really clear. These people are atheists. They are not religious, they are lying, cheating atheists.
Think about it. If you REALLY thought dying in a state of sin would doom you to hell, would you sin? Over and over? With a 22-year-old? Of course not. Any intelligent person who thought there was someone watching them all the time would, well, act like someone was watching them all the time. So these people are either liars or idiots. I don’t think they’re idiots.
We have all kinds in atheism. Everyone has all kinds. Some of them are our worst enemies.
Good Rant, Good Points
Saturday, August 1st, 2009I was getting all riled up for a good rant, and then Joe from Lehigh Valley sent me this gem. I try not to reinvent the wheel, so just consider this a “what he said” from me.
Arrogance and prejudice are connected with a good deal of public policy in Oklahoma, and elected officials routinely pander to such arrogance and prejudice. And, disturbingly, such arrogance and prejudice indicate a major failure of public education.
