LIVERPOOL, England, Feb. 27 (UPI) — Officials at England’s Liverpool Cathedral Friday said the church’s bells will play the late John Lennon’s “Imagine” for the North West’s Futuresonic festival. The Liverpool Daily Post quoted cathedral leaders as saying they took into consideration the song’s lyrics, “Imagine there’s no heaven” and “no religion, too,” but also noting they hope the bells performance would inspire those who hear it in May.Lennon, a Liverpool native and former member of The Beatles, once described his signature song as “anti-religious, anti-nationalistic, anti-conventional and anti-capitalistic.”
Please join us at the American Atheists National Convention for group sing-alongs of “Oh Holy Night” and “Onward Christian Soldiers”.The church says the song has a message which brings people together, and they are right — but it brings people together by eliminating religion (and possession, etc). I think this is one where we get to sit back and giggle.

Shellfish, foreskins, and a sense of humor.

To add to augistine2′s list:
Fig trees (when he is wearing his jebus costume).

The god of the Bible doesn’t hate foreskins; he just prefer them deboned.
I think he used to use them as appetizers, but is now using them to create a god-Snugglie.
phreedm,
You cannot undermine my prior comments by (incorrectly) assuming I haven’t read the Bible.
Can you seriously say the Abrahamic Gods are not jealous and vindictive. Do they not practice and invoke hatred? Doesn’t the Christian God punish those who break any of his ten commandments with eternal damnation? (btw, there’s ten things God hates)
Here’s a portion of the first commandment:
“You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,…”
I’d say, but his own words, the Abrahamic God is jealous and vindictive.
oops…
“but his own words” = “by his own words”
Phreedumb asked this question, I was waiting:
“name three things the god of the bible hates”
Let’s start with the first one: himself. Genesis states that he regretted creating mankind, because men were marrying and women were being given in marriage, and they had forgotten about him. Poor mythical bitch. So he murdered all of them in the flood, man, woman and CHILD. Regret is something you feel after you make a mistake, especially when the consequences are borne by those you love. The angry jeolous god compounds his mistake with yet another, mass murder. I feel the need to worship, NOT!!!!
Second, he hates any other god against his face. So as Moses descended Mt. Sinai, with a stone tablet which read, (King James) “thou shalt not kill”, your god opened up the earth and swallowed up twenty thousand Isrealites for building a golden calf.
And third, though you already feel it in your conscience, your genocidal god hates anyone squatting on the promised land. When the spies returned with the news that they were hopelessly outnumbered, god punished them by producing two more generations of trained warriors. LMFAO. Now lets debate how much more mercy Joshua and his army had on the occupants of Palestine than Pharoah had on the Israelites. You see, Phreedom, your god is a sociopathic maniacal genocidal demon. Yet, you want to worship him, and call him a god of forgiveness and love. You self deluded idiot!!! Read your fucking bible and for the FIRST TIME. OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!

“We are a Republic.”
True, more specifically, a representative republic, but, the problem still remains, they are democratically elected representatives to the republic. And total idiots have the same vote as clear headed freethinkers. Now, you understand my point, the underlying flaw. We can indeed be voted to ruin by idiots. In fact, wake up, that’s how today happened.

phreedm,
Regarding your omnibenevolent deity, are you satisfied with the answers given to your challenge: “name three things the god of the bible hates”?
Just as I thought… you won’t see Phreedm back on this thread now that his question has been answered.
We are the power period. the people who claim to have “authority” are only given authority by us the people. we need to stand up against bullshit laws and religious groups no matter what they be. our world CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT progress as a human race until we rid ourselves of these extreme fairy tales.
The Lutherans have made an interesting decision, too:
