Darn, I forgot to post on Valentine’s Day. Now we’ll have to skip the topic.Seriously, I hate Valentine’s Day. It’s a totally manufactured holiday morphed from religion into a horrible “you’ll do this or you’re not romantic” farce. Today at the mall, Godiva had velvet ropes out in front to guide the line of men who needed (NEEDED) chocolates to go with the mandatory flowers and (AND) gifts for their loved ones. That’s not romance. It’s capitalism. I know romance. Romance is flowers “Just Because”. Romance is a massage, or a quiet meal, or, if you’re real good, a long meeting of eyes across a crowded room. Romance is spontaneous but anticipated, undeniable, and essential.And it doesn’t come from a red heart-shaped box because the calendar says so. Thus sayeth the dave
