I was raised catholic but have no recollection of ever considering religion to be anything but nonsensical.

I wasn’t raised with any religious beliefs or training at all, really, except that my parents did drop me off at a nearby Sunday school a couple of times when I was about 7 (they never, ever went to church). I thought it was all ridiculous then and have never changed my mind since.

Just because it is directionless, doesn’t mean that’s it’s an accident. This is a false dichotomy.
According to the philosophy dictionary, it is this:

The standard definition is pejorative:
“An accident is a specific, identifiable, unexpected, unusual and unintended external event which occurs in a particular time and place, without apparent or deliberate cause but with marked effects. It implies a generally negative probabilistic outcome which may have been avoided or prevented had circumstances leading up to the accident been recognized, and acted upon, prior to its occurrence.”
So…if there was a ‘designer’, then this one HUGE accident is a myriad compilation of a billion minor accidents, apparently.
