By mentioning, for the first time in an inaugural address, the 16.1 percent of Americans who check “no”Â’ when asked about religion, Obama turned it into the most controversial line in his speech — praised by The New York Times editorial board and cited by some Christians as evidence that he is a heretic, and in his well-spoken way, a serious threat. With that one line, the president “seems to be trying to redefine American culture, which is distinctively Christian,” saidÂ’ Bishop E.W. Jackson of the Exodus Faith Ministries in Chesapeake, Va. “The overwhelming majority of Americans identify as Christians, and what disturbs me is that he seems to be trying to redefine who we are.Â’”

Interesting article.
Another reason that I’m an atheist…at least scientists will admit when they’ve made a mistake. When was the last time you heard a Christian admit that they were wrong about their religion?

No. You are wrong. Modern medicine has not bypassed natural selection. All selection is natural. Furthermore modern medicine will not inevitably lead to an increased incidence of genetically linked diseases. As I have told you before industrialized societies can and have developed screening for genetically linked diseases. Physicians refer patients with known genetically linked diseases for genetic counseling routinely if they are or will be capable of bearing children. Proper and earlier screening as well as education of potential parents could easily result in a DECREASE in such diseases.
Your nightmare scenario is more of your own making than reality’s and adults are already on-the-job. Why don’t you try constraining your “free thinking” with a little reality.
Nouse
I thought I was wrong once. Turns out that I was mistaken.
What, along with his skinhead hatred of Jews, has broken from his nazi values and thinks this is a counter argument:
“Your nightmare scenario is more of your own making than reality’s and adults are already on-the-job. Why don’t you try constraining your “free thinking” with a little reality.”
This person who would improve upon my free thinking with reality suggests that genetic counseling is the answer. A person with a CONGENITAL (go look it up) defect has the OPTION of seeking an educated opinion as to what the chances are that this genetic malfunction would be suffered by their children. They may choose to accept or reject this opinion, and no law regulates that. And regardless of how low the chances are that his/her children will be inflicted with the same defect, the REALITY (that this idiot was just talking about) is that the genetic trait is passed on even if it’s recessive.
I was far ahead of you WhatWASIFUCKINGTHINKING. Reality was a huge part of my free thought. Now make it a tiny part of your stupidity.

You have that special combination of arrogance and laziness that is only found on blogs. I guess anonymity excuses stupidity for some folks.
Congenital does not mean genetically linked. Are you so lazy that you can’t use a dictionary?
While your at it do a little research on say Cystic Fibrosis, a hereditary disease. In many regions of the country the incidence of the disease is decreasing due to genetic counseling as well as cheaper and more effective genetic screening technology. There is every reason to believe that this trend will continue.
Lazy and stupid is no way to go through life son.
Of course, the idealology we are wrong for being level headed. To think, what could the american economy be if people were to remove their overly biast opinions based on imaginary bed time stories, and think with a level head, with logic
What spewed this:
“Lazy and stupid is no way to go through life son.”
More uneducated dribble. Obviously you didn’t look up the term “congenital”. It defines either a genetic defect with the mother or the fetus.
And again you make up statistics with no references. Just because you spent some time inside a human intestine, it doesn’t make you human.
NeoWolfe
“congenital”… defines either a genetic defect with the mother or the fetus.”
LOL
Sorry What – you aren’t going to get anywhere with Neononsense. The guy is just plain dense. Better take your own advice: Formosa’s Law.

Because someone hates the behaviour of Israel does not make them anti Semitic or a Nazi.
AND
Whatever dictionary you are using does seem to explain much of your writing.

I know. I know. I am wrestling with this matter.
One the one hand this “free thinker” does a lot of posting on this site and I would hate for visitors to the blog to get the idea that atheists are as incoherent and flighty (to put it mildly) as he. On the other hand it’s cruel not to adhere to Formosa’s Law.
