Dave’s Near Death Experience

Today I needed an MRI done on my knee, which under normal circumstances is hardly blogworthy, but this time was a little different. I needed an MRI with CONTRAST, which means they had to inject a dye in my arm. Now, about 30 years ago, I cut my hand on a piece of glass and it actually cut my artery in my palm. So, I went to the hospital to get the sliced repaired, and they injected me with dye.And then I woke up, and a nice nurse was standing over me smiling me saying “we almost lost you”. Apparently, the dye had caused my heart to stop, and they had to use the paddles they use on TV to get me living again. For the record, no, I didn’t hear anything, see anything, or have any kind of experience at all. All I got from the experience was a better appreciation for my own mortality.I must admit swallowing hard when they injected the dye today, despite their assurances that it was a totally different type of dye, and I was very very unlikely to have that kind of reaction, and even if I did they could help me because I was already in a hospital. In the end, they were right, and I had no reaction at all. Science rocks. Let’s just hope they can fix my knee.

My wife is an Ob/Gyn doc and she says that Palin’s decision to get on a plane for an hours long flight after her water broke was either due to extreme ignorance or a desire to have a dead baby. Take your pick.

    HOLY FUCKING SHIT JESUS!
    SAVE ME JESUS!
I just spent too much of my life viewing jcc’s youtube suggestions and the adjacent videos. We are doomed I tells ya! DOOMED!

I now understand his visceral hatred of Barack HUSSEIN Obama. Yous ‘murkins aren’t doomed ’cause Barack is,

“a an utterly inexperienced, stammering, terrorist/racist/America-hating friendly man-child with a messianic complex, who thinks he’s been to 57 states as our president”,

it’s because he is the Antichrist.

Forget all the propaganda I just consumed. That means nothing. All the quote mining and dishonest editing means nothing. All the picayune opinion means nothing.

You are doomed because people like jcc have no moral compass. They act out of emotion. One of his ilk will attempt to rid the world of Nobama by a justification of direct contact with GOD.

Don’t watch the whole thing; it’s a waste of time:

  4. Obeah says:

At the risk of being petty I just have to add that at the end of the video she calls followers of Obama, spineless AND back-boneless.

Also: “Followers who are not leaders will follow this man, Obama.”

I made it to 2:38 in that video. The woman narrating stammered a lot, over something she was obviously reading. So I must disregard everything she has to say. If that opening shot of Obama is what jcc pictures, no wonder he’s scared. But as someone in the comments of the video asked, “Does anyone really believe in the antichrist anyway? lol”

  6. jcc says:

    Obeah:

given what Bush has left him, I think he will fail in a number of ways.

Ah yes, the fallback excuse for the next 4 years.

The only people who call him The Messiah are blithering idiots.

    You’re tellin’ me

That makes me wonder about your thoughts as to God’s role in Obama’s election. Was He napping (God) or is the Devil stronger than all three of Them combined?

How ’bout he was just continuing to make good on his gift of free will?

By the way, you might do well by block-quoting quoted text. Precede it with the “blockquote” tag:
    <blockquote>

And close it with the end blockquote tag:
    </blockquote>

    For example:
<blockquote>people who call him The Messiah are blithering idiots</blockquote>

    Looks like:

people who call him The Messiah are blithering idiots

    when posted.

  7. jcc says:

    karen:

Palin is the only one who can change my opinion of her.

Actually, opinions are an act of the will.

Well, according to you, I could only rationally think that if you were born while your parents were unwed.

    Nice dodge.

Would yo have felt comfortable advising your own wife to do so?

I wasn’t aware that it was her husband’s advice that she took to fly. And no, I’d have done what they did, call our doctor.

that’s where the guideline has been drawn, so I don’t quibble with it. There’s nothing magic about it.

Except for the fact that it’s essentially an arbitrary one with regard to an objective definition of what a human being is.

even if there were proof, you know it would get buried.

    Ha! By who? The drive-bys?

It’s because I feel so unworthy, next to you on that pedestal. ;-)

    Your humility is without peer.

But a woman’s right to choose is? Good thing we have you to keep all the rules straight.

Let’s see, passing judgment on whether or not two people really love each other vs. indiscriminately murdering an unwanted baby — yeah, you’re right, that’s a moral equivalence…

You sure are obsessed with her.

That’s the best you could come back with?

Glad to see you’re at least being optimistic and willing to give the guy a chance.

What’s scary is knowing that 53% of the electorate think that “giving the guy a chance” satisfies the definition of being an “informed voter.”

Remember evolution? It says that life on earth started as the result of a single celled organism.
Get a freaking education would you. Is embarrassment something you are capable of experiencing. “

Whoa dude. I think embarrassment is, by definition, something mostly self inflicted. I missed the part where you had a point. I really, really looked for one. Are you saying I don’t understand the theory of evolution? I must have missed something. Is there a new one and I just missed it because it was on Nickelodeon? Good thing he’s got Karen’s back, or she’d be defenseless.

What, god damnit, if you are going to make a fool out of yourself in front of the entire planet, do it on the other side of the street. I have the foot sucking pathetic patent on this side. And you’re not even second in line, Phreedumb gave me a blow job for runner up. Better luck next time.

I did blockquote all quotes. So, what I said about pettiness has had no affect on you.
I didn’t need to blockquote myself. Here is what I wrote and what you misread. I forgive you; it happens to us all.

The only people who call him The Messiah are blithering idiots.
Relax, the world won’t come to an end because a black liberal is in charge.
Of course, some of you thumpers are wishing for that eventuality, so pray hard and maybe Revelation will come.
That makes me wonder about your thoughts as to God’s role in Obama’s election. Was He napping (God) or is the Devil stronger than all three of Them combined

By the way, the only one I have seen referring to Obama as the Messiah has been prheedm. Are you saying he’s an idiot?

How ’bout he was just continuing to make good on his gift of free will?

As you no, your whole argument for the existence of free will is a cul-de-sac.

  10. neowolfe says:

    jcc,

I skimmed over another one of your barrages of idiocy. I just picked one.

“Actually, opinions are an act of the will.”

No logic to support it, no argument, just ridiculous blunderbust style, picking statements out of context and making meaningless responses. That’s why you never reply to me, isn’t it, jcc. The only point you have is on the top of your skull.

“Actually, opinions are an act of the will.”

True, but only for you, nematod. They tell you your soul is eternal, and by force of will, you believe it, even though it makes no sense, and no evidence supports it. You believe, because you want to believe, constantly searching for reasons to believe, and ignoring any reason to believe otherwise. You are a sad pathetic atomiton, and even you know you don’t belong in that pathology, or you wouldn’t be here crying for help.

No one can help you, until you help yourself.

You do know that single-celled organisms didn’t just pop into existence from atomic and molecular components without prior organization of subsystems. I don’t know what you understand about evolution but what I do know is that you are filling in what you don’t know with assumptions and schizoid thinking.

Between your disorganized tangential thinking and your grandiose bellicose pronouncements followed by backpedaling it is difficult at best to follow your arguments or that you even have one. When asked to defend your absurdities you respond with more absurdity. Anybody reading this blog might, from your posts, get the idea that atheists are a bunch of lunatics. I am thankful that you have stated you are not an atheist. Please include such a disclaimer on all of your posts.

  12. what says:

That should have had a question mark and read:

You do know that single-celled organisms didn’t just pop into existence from atomic and molecular components without prior organization of subsystems?

  13. Obeah says:

    karen ,

    I know.
I didn’t expect anyone to slog through such nonsense. There are others like it.

There is one with Obama next to Osama where they have photo shopped Osama’s beard and turban onto him. There are several creatively edited videos of Obama which make him look as though he advocates things he doesn’t.
The dishonesty and hyperbole are disgusting.

I go now to see if there any videos which paint Bush with such bile.

  14. jcc says:

    Obeah:

    I did blockquote all quotes

Sorry. Looking back, it seems that neowolfe is the one who either doesn’t know how, or refuses to use blockquotes, and since you didn’t blockquote a quote of mine in your 01/03/09 @ 16:33 post I guess I confused you with him. My apologies.

By the way, the only one I have seen referring to Obama as the Messiah has been prheedm. Are you saying he’s an idiot?

No. Are you saying you can’t recognize phreedm’s sarcasm when you see it?

As you no, your whole argument for the existence of free will is a cul-de-sac.

Actually, no, I don’t know that. Please enlighten.

  15. karen says:

Actually, opinions are an act of the will.

    Uninformed opinions, perhaps.

    Nice dodge.

No dodge. Bastard isn’t necessarily the male equivalent of bitch, even in slang. I don’t think Palin’s a bitch for being pro-life; I think it because of her decisions concerning her son’s birth while being pro-life. And since the only factual reason I could have for calling you a bastard is if your folks were unwed at your birth, I didn’t want to get into the same argument over a different word. If you had done the same thing Palin did, I’d think you were being negligent and hypocritical. If that equates to “bastard” to you, fine.

I wasn’t aware that it was her husband’s advice that she took to fly. And no, I’d have done what they did, call our doctor.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Since you have no uterus, I simply came up with a scenario in which you could be involved in such a decision. Would you settle for a phoned-in exam, rather than insisting your wife actually be seen by the doctor?

    Ha! By who? The drive-bys?

    No, by the family(ies).

Let’s see, passing judgment on whether or not two people really love each other vs. indiscriminately murdering an unwanted baby — yeah, you’re right, that’s a moral equivalence…

I said nothing of equivalence; just that you have the inside scoop on what we may or may not pass judgement upon.

That’s the best you could come back with?

Since Chelsea falls in my forgotten years, which would require research that I’m not interested in doing, yep.

What’s scary is knowing that 53% of the electorate think that “giving the guy a chance” satisfies the definition of being an “informed voter.”

Your sour grapes are making an equally sour w(h)ine.

  16. jcc says:

    karen:

    Are you being deliberately obtuse?

Yeah, I tried isosceles and equilateral but those got boring, so now I’m intentionally trying obtuse on for size…

Since you have no uterus, I simply came up with a scenario in which you could be involved in such a decision.

So it sounds like you’re saying women deserve 2 votes (1 for the woman and one for her uterus) when it comes to decisions concerning a child they had a full 50% stake in conceiving?

Would you settle for a phoned-in exam, rather than insisting your wife actually be seen by the doctor?

It depends on the doctor, how well we knew the doctor/how long she’d been a patient, and how many times she’s been in labor before.

    No, by the family(ies).

Oh, like the powerful and influential Kennedy’s did with Teddy’s little mishap at Chappaquiddick? Or Nixon did with Watergate, or Clinton did with his tryst with Gennifer Flowers?

I said nothing of equivalence; just that you have the inside scoop on what we may or may not pass judgement upon.

    Huh? In this exchange:

You: do you think he’s going to crazily fall madly in love with Bristol now that the baby has been born?

Me: That’s neither for you nor me to pass judgement on.

You: But a woman’s right to choose is?

you’ve clearly passed judgment on his subsequent behavior in which his actions directly affect another individual; yet you attempt to deny that that is not a direct comparison to the moral consequence of a woman exercising her “right” to choose?

Since Chelsea falls in my forgotten years, which would require research that I’m not interested in doing, yep.

    :|

Your sour grapes are making an equally sour w(h)ine.

You’re right, pointing out the documented ignorance of the electorate is just like the rarely heard squealing of “Bush stole the election” of 8 years ago. A thousand pardons for my being such an obtuse malcontent.

  17. what says:

    JCC

You’re right, pointing out the documented ignorance of the electorate …

That ignorance is coming home to roost as we speak in the form of a gutted economy and a disastrous foreign policy that will cost us so much for so long. Reagan, BushCo, and Clinton screwed us all. The rightward drift since Reagan that brought us voodoo economics and cowboy diplomacy is clearly to blame yet here you are arguing about the minutia of politician’s personal lives.

Didn’t you father ever tell you to keep your eye on the ball?
