...it goes against our freedom of speech.
I'm so tired of xians misinterpreting the First Amendment, which protects us from government interference, not the whims of private business owners. Besides, "Happy Holidays" is still religious (ahem, holy-days).
Ah, yes. Being encouraged or maybe even required by a boss to be inclusive and not offend non-Christian customers upsets Christians, or at least, Christian spokespeople.

Not exactly living up to that nice guy image they sometimes claim for their 'saviour'. This is closer to the fig tree beater scenario.

Just read the Christmas page. Fine stuff, but what's a Holliday? Surely you weren't wishing anyone a happy holy day at the end there? True Atheists(tm) aren't allowed to say that, are they?

Peace and Joy to you and yours, everyone.

Yeah yeah, Christmas is secular too. That doesn't make it any less of an obvious scam.

I wish we would just say that. This "war on Christmas" is really something that ought to happen. Of course we can just wait for Christians to spoil their own holiday, but that's taking a long time.

Plus it shouldn't be a "war." Christians and FoxNews can't talk about activism they don't like without invoking warlike rhetoric. I think we should organize opposition against it. And we have, to a large extent. That's enough for me, but let's be honest about it. They're the violent ones, not us.

Many of us consider everything Christmas to be a scam that harms humanity. Someday I'll make a long list of ways.

OK Folks one more time: Christmas is secularizing BECAUSE it was made a national holiday

Hmmmm...I don't believe FDR felt the same way...

Franklin Roosevelt said in his Christmas Message, 1942:

"I say that loving our neighbor as we love ourselves is not enough-
that we as a Nation and as individuals will please God best by
showing regard for the laws of God.

There is no better way of fostering good will toward man than by
first fostering good will toward God. If we love Him we will keep His
Commandments."

Franklin Roosevelt continued:

It is significant that Christmas Day our plants and factories will be
stilled. That is not true of the other holidays."

Franklin Roosevelt concluded:

"On all other holidays work goes on- gladly- for the winning of the
war. So Christmas becomes the only holiday in all the year.

I like to think that this is so because Christmas is a holy day. May
all it stands for live and grow throughout the years."

An interesting book has just been published...conservatives are more generous then liberals...(imagine that)

http://tinyurl.com/897qyd

It's of no surprise that many liberals view Christmas as secular...
just in case you did not see this "In January many more atheist buses - an advertising campaign launched on Comment is Free - will roll on to the street than expected. The British Humanist Association is astonished at the response - a target of £5,500 has swelled to £130,000, most in small donations. The buses will bear as good a message as any this Christmas: "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life".
hmmm, 1942, was this not the same year that your lord was hedging his bet on one of his glorious creations, Adolph Hitler?
Was not his holy churches blessing the Nazi march into Europe at about this time, did not the lord of hosts give strength to the workers as the last stones were set on the gas chambers of gods holy will?
Aaah, christmas in 42 I remember it well

Quote from phreedm: "Hmmmm...I don't believe FDR felt the same way..."

I think that's the point. If the Constitution doesn't allow for the establishment of religion, then a holiday must be secular or unconstitutional, no matter what some politician might put in a speech. The fact that a fascist like FDR was into religion as much as a conservative like Reagan doesn't change that fact.

Quote from phreedm: "...conservatives are more generous then liberals...(imagine that)"

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. I'm sure we could find many examples that contradict your generalization.

Are you suggesting that if we forced more people to be "conservative" by making Christmas a religious holiday, that somehow everybody would become more generous?
Hey, I think we should give those Kansas City xians a break. They are most likely directed to avoid celebrating Halloween. So now they get to dress up in costumes that are even scarier...Christmas Halloween.

The quote generator is slick; I will use often.

Shouldn't they wear diapers instead of crowns of thorns? It sounds like they have their holidays mixed up.

Would they try to have a member of the Church of Satan sent home from work if they showed up dressed like a devil?

Can we act offended and hurt when they don't wish us a "Merry Solstice" ?
