George W. Bush’s recent statement that he believes the Bible is “probably not” literally true has apparently left many Christian conservatives reeling in shock.David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network told CNN”s John Roberts on Thursday, “I think a lot of social conservative evangelicals were surprised — probably grabbing the smelling salts as we speak.”Bush made the controversial statement during a Monday interview on ABC’s Nightline. When asked whether he thinks the Bible is literally true, he replied, “Probably not. No, I’m not a literalist, but I think you can learn a lot from it.”One blogger at the conservative Washington Times, commented the next morning, “I already have an e-mail from a former Bush administration official who writes, ‘This just completely alienated his evangelical supporters.’”Bush further stated in the interview, “I think that God created the Earth … and I don’t think it’s incompatible with the scientific proof that there is evolution.”Brody suggested that Bush may have merely been referring to what creationists call “microevolution” — small-scale changes that do not rise to the level of creating new species. However, he didn’t appear altogether confident, telling Roberts, “The problem was, the president didn’t seem all that — if you want to use the word — coherent on the subject.”
What we have learned is very simple. Bush was not so much a moron, and he was a whore to morons. The Faith-Based initiatives, the Terry Schiavo case, the god sent us to Iraq thing, all lies to please another group with money. Like a whore. A whore who did things that he knew were not in the best interest of the country, in porder to benefit himself instead. There’s a word for that: Treason, and it’s why every political candidate should acknowledge that this duty is first to his country, then to his god.PS can anyone login yet? I agree, Dave is with us and is not a Jew. But his family is. Don’t ask him to insult his own family. It is clear on what his view is on all stupid intolerant organized religions is.
I guess you could say I am tolerant of others while they are tolerant of others.
I hope most here don’t really give a care what someone else believes. Just the actions these people commit.

Bush, like many people, merely provides lip service where religion is concerned. If he really believed, he could have brought armageddon. A true believer is what we need to worry about, and when it comes right down to that, I have never met one.
One thing that the xian crazies overlook is that the Clintons belonged to a Washington DC area church and actually attended church on a regular basis. Bush never did belong to a church in Washington DC and he almost never attended services at any church yet he found the time to be the president who took more vacation days than any other president in history.

Whoa. And I suppose liberals should thank Satan for Olbermann, Maddow, and MSNBC. How profound… How sophisticated.
Thank public funds, private donors, and intelligent people for Frontline, The News Hour w/ Jim Lehrer, and PBS.
What’s FNS? Fundamentalist News Spin?
I’m terrified of anybody who gets their news from Limbaugh, Hannity, et al.
On another note, has anyone seen footage of the journalist throwing his shoes at the Dickhead-In-Chief? Fucking hilarious!
Man, too bad the guy missed. i would’ve loved to have seen the jackass get hit.

What’s funnier is what the guy said, “so long you dog.” Throwing your shoe at someone in the Arab culture is much like flipping them the bird, except it includes real possibility of physical injury. Although I am not an advocate of violence, I think I can support it on this occasion. I think a shoe print on GW’s nose would be a great photo op.
What sickens me though is that GW knows the war is over regardless of his or his crony’s opinions about conditions on the ground, and he’s trying to become the president who ended the war, before he leaves office. Given his way, he wouldn’t remove troops until Iraq was Israel partII. And by then our great great great great great great great grandchildren would be paying off his little covert inteligence
error.

Wonder if he got his shoe back?
I read that he was beaten senseless afterwords, so I doubt he got his shoes back. Gotta love middle-eastern democracy.
protests in the street today. Iranian leaning Shiite malitias consider him a folk hero. That’s the greeting as liberater that Bush expected from the Shiite minority. I wonder what a Sunni would have thrown at him? His underwear?

watch the video, that dude had been practicing. That first throw would have nailed GW right between the winkers if he hadn’t dodged. Hilarious.

Ha! Even Satan wouldn’t be fool enough to claim credit for losers like them — on a network nobody watches.
More losers who couldn’t generate enough revenue to stay on the air for half a season if they were on a commercial network.
jcc,
Here’s a lesson in true morality for ya: Better to lose and be right than to win by being the louder asshole.
