Now is the time to speak up!

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/55722.html WASHINGTON ? It’s no surprise to Steve Lowe that being an atheist is considered taboo. But when the head of the Washington Area Secular Humanists saw Sen. Elizabeth Dole’s “godless” campaign ad, he did something he’d done only once before ? he sent money to a political candidate. Turns out, Sen.-elect Kay Hagan got 3,600 contributions within 48 hours of Dole airing of the controversial ad, which centered on Hagan’s attendance at a fund-raiser at the Boston home of someone active in the atheist community. The Democrat from Greensboro had immediately used the “godless” ad as an e-mail fund-raising tool, and it paid off. “I told Hagan’s campaign, ‘This is the reason you’re getting money from me ? I want you to know this is not hurting you, this has helped you,’” said Lowe said, who gave $50 to Hagan and called Dole, R-N.C., several times to complain.

    Hey “What do I know”…

You sure do make the rounds…another video about you…

What am I to make of your reluctance to counter my assertion, phreedm, that the Supreme Court never ruled that secular humanism is a religion?

You looked up the case, didn’t you? Found you were…wrong.

    Again.

It’s a lie, phreedm, promoted by “good Christians” like you.

  3. avatar castletonsnob says:

And, for the record, godless sodomite is correct: the advertising on stations, buses and trains of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is managed by a private company, CBS Outdoors.

Schooled by a gay atheist, no less.

What’s this world coming to, ay, phreedm?

I BETTER TROLLS AND I WANT THEM NOW!!!!

  5. avatar Boise Jim says:

Why can’t a private citizen pay to have the 10 commandments posted on government property? No religion is mentioned in them….

This has got to be one of the dumbest fucking things to ever come out of your keyboard.

    1) I am the Lord your God
    2) You shall have no other gods before me
    3) You shall not make for yourself an idol
    4…

Where do you see that they are not religious?

Goddamn, could you get more ignorant?

  6. avatar Cynic says:

Sure — he could start by suggesting that the 10 commandments have something, even peripherally, about the foundation of American law.

  7. avatar castletonsnob says:

He could, but according to Thomas Jefferson at least, he’d be wrong.

  8. avatar NotSoFast says:

Or he could say God didn’t create Adam and Steve. But according to the Bible at least, he’d be wrong.

  9. avatar CascadiaEventHorizon says:

I don’t want the Ten Commandments on Govt property for a reason that everyone seems to miss… If you allow private “additions” to Govt property, eventually every Park (city, state, or federal)will look like Times Square (cluttered with advertisements).Courthouses and Parks should not resemble a shopping mall or Walmart. It would be very tacky.

  10. avatar CascadiaEventHorizon says:

oops…Of course I also oppose them on Constitutional bounds as well.

  11. avatar quantum_flux says:

The Ten Commandments promote slavery and degrade women (much more than the sex industry does). I’m surprised they are still up in the courthouse.

  12. avatar Tuen says:

    Richard Dawkin’s Ten Commandments

    (1) Do not do to others what you would not want them to do to you.

    (2) In all things, strive to cause no harm.

    (3) Treat your fellow human beings, your fellow living things, and the world in general with love, honesty, faithfulness and respect.

    (4) Do not overlook evil or shrink from administering justice, but always be ready to forgive wrongdoing freely admitted and honestly regretted.

    (5) Live life with a sense of joy and wonder.

    (6) Always seek to be learning something new.

    (7) Test all things; always check your ideas against the facts, and be ready to discard even a cherished belief if it does not conform to them.

    (8) Never seek to censor or cut yourself off from dissent; always respect the right of others to disagree with you.

    (9) Form independent opinions on the basis of your own reason and experience; do not allow yourself to be led blindly by others.

    (10) Question everything.

    Hahaha…you’ve GOT to be kidding

The “government” merely subs out that part of their operation. Bottom line…the buses are owned by the governmente…

Where do you see that they are not religious?

Goddamn, could you get more ignorant?

Well BJ…speaking of dumb. Thanks for making my argument. The mere mention of God makes the phrase religious.

So again…where is AA’s outrage that God is being place in government property…???

That’s right castlenob…check the registration of the buses, and tell us who’s name appears on that tiny piece of paper…I’ll bet you it’s not “CBS Outdoor”….

  15. avatar says:

    And speaking of stupidity…

Everyone on this board is against vouchers for public education.

I will guarantee you that your “massiah”…NObama will NEVER enroll his little girls into the Washington DC public school system.

Of course everyone will twist in the wind to make excuses for him, but again, the bottom line is….

    Hypocracy…

It’s ok for liberal policies to force the poor kids to stay in failing public schools…

But it’s a different story for the elite…

  16. avatar godless sodomite says:

Obama can afford to send his kids to private school so why shouldnt he? If you can afford private school then by all means send your kids there but dont expect the taxpayers to dole out our money in the form of vouchers to pay to send your kids to religious schools.

  17. avatar mxracer652 says:

    I’m not against vouchers.
    In fact, I’m strongly pro-voucher.

  18. avatar castletonsnob says:

You are a particulary obtuse troll, ain’t ya, phreedm?

The “government” merely subs out that part of their operation. Bottom line…the buses are owned by the governmente…

    Obviously.

But before I continue to humor you, you must admit you were wrong about the Supreme Court ruling that secular humanism is a religion.

    C’mon…c’mon…

  19. avatar says:

Obama can afford to send his kids to private school so why shouldnt he?

    Excuse #1…

  20. avatar castletonsnob says:

    “massiah”

I’d say this was a racial slur from our precious phreedm if it wasn’t slightly more likely to be due to his poor spelling skills…

  21. avatar what says:

By paying his taxes on a relatively large income Obama is paying to send other parent’s kids to school. To make those tax dollars go further he may send his kids to a private school which he and his wife will pay for as well. What evil lurks?

    SMARTER TROLLS PLEASE!!!!

  22. avatar what says:

I’d say this was a racial slur from our precious phreedm if it wasn’t slightly more likely to be due to his poor spelling skills…

Your first instinct was correct. It was a racial slur.

    LESS BIGOTED TROLLS PLEASE!

  23. avatar cry4turtles says:

For the same reason I can’t pay $40,000 to have the 10 commandments posted on the side of a city bus…

My intuition says that if you have $40,000 to give to the always cash-strapped bus company, they’ll post damn near anything you want to say (as long as you don’t have those 7 dirty words in your message).

They’ll probably post even more for $40,000 more! For $100,000, you could probably cover the whole bus, maybe even the entire fleet (that might cost more like a 1/2 million)!

Stupid is as stupid spends money.

  24. avatar says:

    cry4…

You miss the point. It’s not a question of spending the money.

It’s a question of why does AA not see the hypocracy of a humanist group mentioning God in an ad but screams about the “myth” if a christian group does the same thing…

  25. avatar says:

    Castlenob…

A “racial slur”…? Would it be a racial slur if a blackman called NObama the messiah?

    Of course not…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OowxMcVTjTE

    As I’ve stated…”Stupidity ruled on November 4th…

If you could step back and think clearly you’d understand that NObama supporters are going to use the race card every single time he brings out a program that you disagree with…

    Excuse #2

Of course it’s not a surprise coming from you…

  27. avatar godless sodomite says:

So phreedum you dont think that people should be free to spend their own money, not someone elses, to send their kids to the school of their choice? no one cares if you spend your own money to send your kids to a religious school but we do care if you take our tax dollars in the form of vouchers to send someone elses kids to a religious school. Would you support your tax dollars supporting school vouchers for muslim or jewish or humanist schools?

  28. avatar what says:

Phreeky doesn’t know what he thinks and he openly admits that “stupidity ruled” his decisions on Nov 4.

  29. avatar what says:

And to make matters worse Phreeky does everything he can to divert resources from schools to his feckless religion.

  30. avatar CascadiaEventHorizon says:

    Phreedm:
Even though I strongly disagree with your position on vouchers…
I think you’re right, it does seem hypocritical for Obama to take a strong position in support of public schools, then determine they are not good enough for his own children. He should enroll them in the public school system.

Also your darling Sarah Palin put Barack Obama in the White House.
Ralph Nader was polling between 4 and 6 percent prior to McCain’s VP pick, then Nader sunk like a rock in the polls. On election night he only received .9% of the national vote. You may think that it’s just a coincidence, but even my “wife” abandoned Nader to vote AGAINST Sarah Palin… This was a very common reason our support (Nader’s) evaporated. If Ralph Nader would have received only 4% of the vote John McCain would be the president. If John McCain would have picked a moderate to share his ticket he would be the president. You (Republicans) have no one to blame but yourselves for Barack Obama’s victory.
