Give the membership to Ralph Nader for the first question -- tho he may want to transfer it to George Will.

Just got this email from votenader.org

Even George Will said that Obama will win with over 370 electoral votes.

There is still no one talking about the affront to atheists that's coming from both sides: Dole's filthy attacks, and Hagan's silence in the defense of America's nonbelievers. I was going to donate to Hagan, but I can't in good conscience if she truly believes that atheists are not okay to be seen with.
Letter to Christopher Hitchens from a longtime Iraqi friend
By Ayad Rahim

For the 20-plus years I have known you, you have been nothing but generous towards me, and I am very fond of you and grateful for your friendship. Our main points of convergence have been my native Iraq, journalism, atheism and our roots in the Left. Your early detection of the nature of Saddam's fascist rule and your principled and stalwart advocacy for the liberation of Iraq - among many other views and insights, clearly and elegantly expressed -- have drawn me to you and deepened my admiration and respect.

As I know you fully comprehend, deposing Saddam -- and liberating Iraq -- was the sine qua non of our response to 9/11 -- and that Iraq is far more important than Afghanistan; and Saddam, more important than bin Laden. (I'm amused -- and bemused -- by the oft-repeated call for a near-total shift of emphasis to Afghanistan and/or Pakistan -- if not a complete shift -- and by the prevalent belief that capturing or killing bin Laden is the primary goal in the war that 9/11 launched, and that doing so would end our troubles with Arab fascism - the actual source of the terrorism we face, rather than Islam/Muslims.)

Prop 8 in CA defeated (but only just)
Maybe I should stay here in Spain where gay marriage is legal.
Only one prediction for me. If the dems can get 60 senate seats then the rethuglican party will die a painful death over the next year. What is my justification for this prediction? What lobbyists are going to contribute to the GOP when there exists a filibuster proof democratic senate. So the GOP well will run dry - dust in the wind.

Osame 325, unless Diebold dumps all the data and Cheney declares Martial Law.

Who cares. I agree with PZ, a pox on both their houses.

Levin. No brainer, the polls have him up 58-30 over Hoogendyk.

Prop 8 goes down like a dog (which is still better than a tree), like our equivalent did here in Michigan. Apperently, straight white men like voting down other people's rights.

But the important ones here are a landslide for Prop 1 (medical Marijuana) and a close win for Prop 2 (Stem cell research), though the polls went from 46-44 yes to 51-40 over the last week, despite the catholic church spending millions to send us to the dark ages.
