Give the membership to Ralph Nader for the first question — tho he may want to transfer it to George Will.

Just got this email from votenader.org

Even George Will said that Obama will win with over 370 electoral votes.

  2. avatar NearEarth says:

There is still no one talking about the affront to atheists that’s coming from both sides: Dole’s filthy attacks, and Hagan’s silence in the defense of America’s nonbelievers. I was going to donate to Hagan, but I can’t in good conscience if she truly believes that atheists are not okay to be seen with.

Letter to Christopher Hitchens from a longtime Iraqi friend
    By Ayad Rahim

For the 20-plus years I have known you, you have been nothing but generous towards me, and I am very fond of you and grateful for your friendship. Our main points of convergence have been my native Iraq, journalism, atheism and our roots in the Left. Your early detection of the nature of Saddam’s fascist rule and your principled and stalwart advocacy for the liberation of Iraq – among many other views and insights, clearly and elegantly expressed — have drawn me to you and deepened my admiration and respect.

As I know you fully comprehend, deposing Saddam — and liberating Iraq — was the sine qua non of our response to 9/11 — and that Iraq is far more important than Afghanistan; and Saddam, more important than bin Laden. (I’m amused — and bemused — by the oft-repeated call for a near-total shift of emphasis to Afghanistan and/or Pakistan — if not a complete shift — and by the prevalent belief that capturing or killing bin Laden is the primary goal in the war that 9/11 launched, and that doing so would end our troubles with Arab fascism – the actual source of the terrorism we face, rather than Islam/Muslims.)

    McCain

    Prop 8 passes

  5. avatar godless sodomite says:

    Obama
    Hagan
    Democratic Senate
Prop 8 in CA defeated (but only just)

Maybe I should stay here in Spain where gay marriage is legal.

    no

  7. avatar atheistmike says:

    My predictions:

Obama 330 electoral votes, McCain 208

    Hagan over Dole 53% – 47%

Senate – Dems (including Lieberman and Sanders) 56, GOP 44

    Prop 8 defeated in California

  8. avatar what says:

Only one prediction for me. If the dems can get 60 senate seats then the rethuglican party will die a painful death over the next year. What is my justification for this prediction? What lobbyists are going to contribute to the GOP when there exists a filibuster proof democratic senate. So the GOP well will run dry – dust in the wind.

    Predictions

Do you mean votes cast or votes counted??

  10. avatar teammarty says:

Osame 325, unless Diebold dumps all the data and Cheney declares Martial Law.

Who cares. I agree with PZ, a pox on both their houses.

Levin. No brainer, the polls have him up 58-30 over Hoogendyk.

Prop 8 goes down like a dog (which is still better than a tree), like our equivalent did here in Michigan. Apperently, straight white men like voting down other people’s rights.

But the important ones here are a landslide for Prop 1 (medical Marijuana) and a close win for Prop 2 (Stem cell research), though the polls went from 46-44 yes to 51-40 over the last week, despite the catholic church spending millions to send us to the dark ages.

I was led to a site entitled Free Thinker. I thought, “What is he doing reading an intellectual blog?” Turns out, it’s an ironic rubric.
The site lead me to another: Commonsense Regained; more irony.

I think that if one wallows in this sort of hyperbole for long enough, one’s brain drys out, and reason becomes impossible. It explains a lot. All you’re with left is sadness.

  12. avatar Obeah says:

    Oops. I meant ‘American Thinker’.

  13. avatar UnGodly says:

    Obama
    Dole (She’s got Teh Jeebus!)
Demoncrats get 60 seats in the Senate
I will no longer be married

Question: If Prop 8 passes and my marriage is rendered null and void, what shall we call my revised marital status. With neither my husband nor I having filed for divorced that term does not seem to fit.

I suggest that gay couples whose marriages are overturned by a multimillion dollar out of state agitator Mor[m]on campaign should declare their marital status as Jeebused

Related note: Have you seen this video of a Proposition H8te supporter conflating gay marriage with the rise of Adolph Hitler?

I predictiate that Hagens proof that there is no god will lead to a defeat of prop.8 leading to the marriage of Obama to Mcsame and mcsame will make a lovely hostess

I predict I will be infinitely happy to never have to listen to Palin’s shrill shill anymore.

If she is the best Alasks has to offer, then I suggest we not only allow them to secede, but we make them. Then, we can invade them and occupy them for another 50 yrs, until all their mineral wealth has been exploited, like we do to so many other countries around the world.

If only baby seals could be taught to wield clubs… You betcha!

  16. avatar quantum_flux says:

    Obama 2008 …. great socia-l-ist depression …. stock market crashes …. Chuck Baldwin 2012 …. economic prosperity

  17. avatar Dorky Mommy says:

    OBAMA will WIN.

Hagen will defeat silly Libby Dole, but I still don’t see why anybody should think it libelous to call Hagen an atheist.

The Senate will not gain a filibuster proof majority. Gosh darn!

Proposition 8 will pass, and some of my friends will become unmarried for the second time. California is full of small-minded, uneducated people.

  18. avatar quantum_flux says:

  19. avatar rainbows4dinosaurs says:

    Obama by 338

    Senate: Dems 58, Reps 40

    House: 254 Dems, 181 Reps

    Prop 8 will fail
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rfea8iEGNw

There will then be a rapid, Palin-led take over of the conservative movement by the hysterical, militia-dabbling wing of the Republican base. A four year cacophony of assassination threats, wild conspiracy theories, and militant romanticism will then ensue, further marginalizing conservative intellectualism and rational discourse. In short, we’ll see a dramatic role-reversal where the Republicans are seen as the ‘anti-American party’ as they pine for coastal terrorist attacks and presidential tragedies.

It’s going to get pretty disgusting. Grab the popcorn.

  20. avatar rainbows4dinosaurs says:

Oh, and Hagan beats Dole. Epic FAIL, Liddy.

  21. avatar CascadiaEventHorizon says:

Nader will win my home town, but lose everywhere else. (Obama by at least 300 EV)

    Senate:
    Dems pick up:
    NH
    AK
    NM
    CO
    VA
    OR
    MN
Hateful bitch holds her seat in NC

Prop h8te barely passes (the misinformation campaign is going to be effective)

  22. avatar fireemblem555 says:

Obama wins; Hateful Bitch wins; Prop 8 fails by an incredibly slim margin. If it does pass, it will be met with legal challenges. I have to agree with Cascadia on the seats the Dems will get, though I disagree with Arkansas, and I’m unsure about Virginia.

  23. avatar CascadiaEventHorizon says:

    fireemblem555:

AK is Alaska not Arkansas (no sweat I’ve made that mistake too). Sen Stevens (recently convicted felon) is the Republican incumbent there.

VA Democratic challenger for the open seat is the popular former Gov. Warner. Fivethirtyeight.com thinks his chance of victory is 100%…I can hardly argue against those odds.

  24. avatar charlie says:

no civil war – no loss of freedom – but the vitriol, senseless grumbling and doomsday threats will never stop

the wingnuts will realize their worst nightmare…a black liberal prez…empathetically, I understand how bad they feel, but better a few broken hearts than a broken country…it finally seems to be the nature of the beast

for the first time in 8 years I feel proud to be an American

  26. avatar fireemblem555 says:

Sorry about that, I’m Canadian so I don’t know all the state abbreviations.

  27. avatar CascadiaEventHorizon says:

    fireemblem555:

Most Americans don’t know the state abbreviations… Many can’t even find their own state on a map. So it’s not a big deal.
