Nice Op/Ed in the USA Today

http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2008/10/dont-count-us-o.html

Don’t count us out?Nation of believers? must not marginalize ? or worse undercount ? secularists, an invisible minority.By Ronald AronsonAs the presidential campaign winds down, members of America’s largest and most silent minority may be excused for feeling a little left out. As Republicans and Democrats escalate their appeals to 2008′s most contested and prized constituency ? swing voters among evangelicals and Catholics ? they treat those who are not religious as if they are invisible.

This is not news, but it is very well-written and heartfelt.

It was a very good article. I think they answer to his final question is: Soon.

Excellent. Is it in the published edition as well, or is it just a blog post?

The only things I would’ve added are:

    (1) That we nontheists outnumber both Jews and Muslims, a shrinking-yet-powerful constituency and a growing-and-newly-relevant constituency, yet have the least political influence, and

    (2) That we’re the most unelectable minority, behind even communists as the kind of candidate Americans are willing to vote for.
