Voting — absentee reminder

I needed this reminder myself, as I will be away for the vote on Election Day, and I am sure not going to let this one slide by. It’s too important.Sooo, think about it, and make sure you’re going to be around to vote. If you’re not, you’ve got very little time to get your absentee ballot. Don’t forget!

Already voted, but thanks for the reminder for others.

I still can’t believe that there are still undecided people out there.
Kind of points to the overall intelligence level of our country. How could someone not know who to vote for this late in the game?

I agree….there seems to be no grey out there…

Already voted. I like the option of early voting. I’m going to be in divorce court on Nov. 4, so I’m glad to not have to get up extra early to get to the polls that day.

I voted (early) today and have never seen so many people waiting to vote before at the polling place. The other people there were all remarking on the huge turnout too.
The polls are showing that the red state of NC will be turning blue for the first time since the mid 70s and that elizabeth dole and her hateful smear campaign agaist Kay Hagan and atheists will be history.
I am very hopeful for our future which is something that I havent felt much during this eight year nightmare we have all lived through. I can only hope that bush and cheney will be tried and convicted of war crimes and murder.

Where have I heard this before?

Oh, yes. . . at the last election. And the one before. And the one before that. And the one before….

Ack! Jim, how can you think that Obama is that good? Or that anyone on the ballot anywhere is that worthy?

Indecision among voters is the best thing we can hear about voters. It means they’re thinking critically.

I don’t think that indecision is a problem in any election. When we get a better candidate, more people will go with it. Candidates and their supporters shouldn’t expect more votes than they’ve earned.

Currently we have to just settle with what we’re instructed to vote for, and a lot of people don’t like that. It doesn’t mean we’re less intelligent! We just need better candidates. We’re not getting them.

My husband and I voted this afternoon. Obama 08!

I think I’ll wait and vote in November. There is likely to be a good turnout and long lines, but I can deal with that. What I’m waiting for is the Independent Weekly’s endorsements. (Independent Weekly is a liberal-leaning advertising paper her in the Triangle of NC) I don’t vote entirely by the Independent’s endorsements but I do read about the candidates and use it as a guide. Yes, godless sodomite it looks like NC just might be a blue state this time. People seem to be forgetting that Jimmy Carter got a lot of votes in 1976 by being a Born Again Christian.

It does? I have never seen a more stark contrast between candidates and more importantly between party platforms. No elction even comes close over my life. I would say that if one had not made the choice prior to the nominating conventions then one is seriously ill-informed or deluded.

Election Day should be a federal holiday – an day not to work, but to celebrate our rights as citizens. I always go to the polling place (unfortunately in my neighborhood it is a Lutheran Church!) where I enjoy the process of voting. Then I go out for a festive meal. My daughter and I used to vote together and celebrate the occasion. Now she lives in D.C. and has no Representative to vote for.

I have my absentee ballot and the only reason it is not complete yet is local candidate questions.

Voting absentee becuase I am an Election Judge and we are expecting a HUGE turnout and a long day. It is fun though and luckily my precinct is small.

Ballots have to be postmarked by Nov. 4.
    CHANGE!

  12. Boise Jim says:

I have feeling that the election results are going to be even more delayed this year. I know that around here, officials are saying they’ve never had this much interest in absentee balloting ever, and it’s way more than ever before.

It should be fun to watch Harriet My… er, um, I mean Sarah Palin go back to Alaska with her tail between her legs.

What an unbelievable embarrassment for the Rethugs on that nominee.

Voted last Friday. I would have, even without the big push for “early voting”. I have to be out of town that day, and while I COULD make a 125 mile trip back in the afternoon just to vote (and go back out of town the next day), if there’s an ice storm or big snowstorm (not unheard of around here) I would be out of luck. And there are other races besides that for president.
