A kangaroo court with a jack-ass jury! They should move the venue to the UK. A fair trial is presently not possible in the US.

    OT Alert

Sarah Palin has not released any of her medical records. Hmm. Maybe she’s hiding the truth about the baby factory.

Sorry, but what a waste of time.
Why even consider the IDiots in the same world as real science.
All this does is give them a shred of credability which they do not deserve.
Would we have a trial on the Theory of Gravity v Invisible Angel Holding? Come on !!!

I agree that reputable scientists should no more debate a creationist than they should debate the existence of goblins and unicorns. It lends a hint of respectability to these easily defeated creationist idiots.

That’s exactly what Richard Dawkins does. The veracity of Evolutionism is not a matter of point of view. It’s not the opinion of a biologist against the opinion of a masked religious fondamentalist. A creationist such as those who appear in the medias is at first a crook. Debating with such a wacko is giving him more importance than he deserves.

Can’t say I am supprised here at all, I go to Gateway Community and Tech College for IT, and all their IT classes used to be in their Highland Heights campus, which is right next to NKU. Saying this area is “Christianville” is a gross understatement, so I am not one tad bit surprised by this at ALL.

I just hope the gobs of evidence, facts, scientific research, etc. win against this ignorant rebirth of Creationism (just with a new name) that no facts what-so-ever besides one 2000 year old fable and pseudo-science. It was banned once and I seriously hope it gets banned again, because they need to see it for what it is, teaching RELIGIOUS proponents in school which is UNCONSTUTIONAL.

Funny too how only ONE theatre here is showing Religulous, which is in the large Levee area here. Yet when Expelled came out, almost every theatre had it (despite it being rated one of the worst movies and especially worst “documentaries” of all time, people instantly saw it for the propaganda piece based on lies it was. Hmm… Much like the entire ID movement). Again, not surprised knowing this area…

Debating ID with a fundie is like debating sanity with a psychotic.

Exactly! neither one realises that they are batshit crazy although everyone else can see it plainly.

  9. Asemodeus says:

That isn’t the point though. Debating and then watching the ID folk crumble under you is not only funny but also is a public service to anyone nearby.

I think such debates will have the net effect of decreasing the number of creationists. I just think the jury in this mock trial is comical.

Hey, I wonder if they will call any gawds as witnesses.

  11. Asemodeus says:

It’s hard to say either way. Considering that the religious can just claim that we are devil worshipers and end it right then and there. When you are dealing with people who have little grasp of reality, it makes it quite easy for their cult overlords to distract them with shiny things or threats, pretend or real.

So yeah, this is taking place in a fundie university? If that is the case then expect foul play. Creationists have a long history of stacking things in their favor in a suppose even debate or some such other discussion.

America, of all industrialized nations, is shockingly bogged down in fundamental religions. ANY introduction of scientific element is welcome, ANY hint of atheism as benign and a desireable state of being, is necessary to encourage closet atheits that, even if they dare not ‘come out’, at least they shold know they’re not alone.

So far I have only read comments from closed minded atheists similar to the courts Copernicus and Galileo experienced when the earth was flat according to all science as you say. One of the greatest aspects of Einstein was even after he spent his early professional life attempting to disprove God, he was unable to. Instead as he stated in a interview later in life that the more he delved into what became astro physics the more convinced there has to be a force behind such incredible order in the universe. No amount of infinite random events or occurrences could account for the laws that govern physics and the universe. He also stated how angry he was that atheists used his name as a beacon to hawkeshly prove they were right. Did he not spend his later years attempting to disprove his own theories? he was not able to but he was open minded enough to try. That was a truly real scientist just like many great ones that came before. An openness of mind to all possibilities regardless of their emotional attachment. If you submit to me that evolution as a whole is a possibility then I submit to you that limited evolution and creation is a possibility. Were any of us there to know for sure? No so we can only surmise as to what COULD have happened based on evidence gathered. Why would you automatically disregard and even chastise such a possibility when you cannot 100% disprove it. Even if it’s only 1% likely to many scientists then how is it science to remove it from the table of all possibilities. That isn’t science. That is a court of public opinion no different than what was faced when the earth was Flat.

And your mind, of course, is wide open — to religiotic propaganda!

Einstein used the word “God” in a poetic sense, and said he was peeved with religious nuts who tried to make a big deal out of it. He spent his whole life trying to improve his theories, and unify all physical theories into one.

Make that 0% to all scientists. Creation has never been on the table, and won’t be until there is evidence to support it. (Don’t hold your breath.)

  16. blackstaff says:

“And your mind, of course, is wide open — to religiotic propaganda” – Once again you reflect views no different than where science was in the 15th and 16th centuries. Using the same methods as those from the opposite theology makes your views no different than theirs.

“Einstein used the word “God” in a poetic sense, and said he was peeved with religious nuts who tried to make a big deal out of it. He spent his whole life trying to improve his theories, and unify all physical theories into one.” – And to disprove them himself. It was that important to him to verify as it should be to all scientists. Poetic or not he recognized an incredible power or force behind those laws. What you or others chose to call that force is doesn’t change that at all. Nor does it change the interview he had and the words he spoke about God and the universe or how he felt about atheists.

“Make that 0% to all scientists. Creation has never been on the table, and won’t be until there is evidence to support it. (Don’t hold your breath.)” – This is absolutely false and you let your emotion cloud your studies here. Many a scientist including Creationist scientists who still have their PhD’s state that this is most definitely a possibility. Only in the court of opinion that makes claims in the name of all science states it as an impossibility. The same court that touts man made Global warming nonsense as well. Their credibility is gone now.
