Well, some people may desire to be free "from" religion, but that's not what the U.S. Constitution requires.

About the only way Atheists are ever going to be free from religion is to live in a nation of their own making where they simply don't let in anyone who believes in God.

Otherwise, I'll give you some cheese to go with that whine of yours.

I agree, the US Constitution has always bothered me. We love it, yet we have endless debates over exactly what it means and what it's supposed to mean, and as far as I can tell, that's only because it was worded so poorly. Or rather worded for a time long past. It's primitive.

If we had to write a constitution today, I'm sure we'd do a better job, if we could actually manage to agree on some things. That part is different. lol
Tim,

Atheists are already "free from religion," and we don't care whether others believe in the tooth fairy, invisible gods, or other mythological creatures. (Although we may find this humorous or pitiful).

What we do care about are their efforts to pass laws that try to secure secular power and special privileges for those share their beliefs, and to ostracize and disenfranchise those who do not share their views.

When that happens, we are not amused.

phreedm, I've long wondered why you come to this site? What makes you come back it's painfully obvious that you're just here to disagree with (nearly) everything that is typed here. You're not going to convert anyone, and you're never going to agree with Atheists over religion. So why do you come here?

Tim,

Are you sure the Constitution does not require freedom FROM relgion?

You said:

Well, some people may desire to be free "from" religion, but that's not what the U.S. Constitution requires.

Would you please explain in further detail what the Constitution does require? References also...

Thx
