Christmas arrives at the winter solstice because it was a festival of rejuvination of the cycle of nature by the pagan tribes in gemania, and among the celts and gaelic of Britania. It employed the evergreen tree because it was the sybol of life surviving winter. But, the burning of the Yule log was an orgy that went on until the fire went out. Christianity my ass. I talked to my third graders today about how the tilt of the earth causes our seasons. At winter solstice, I read the book "The Winter Solstice" by Ellen Jackson.
