Oh yeah…

Happy Fall Equinox. Half day, half night. 12 and 12. Yin and Yang. Chi and Chow. Cheech and Chong. Moe, Larry, and Curly. Woo woo woo.

Here’s a ludicrous post, preaching to the choir. Christmas arrives at the winter solstice because it was a festival of rejuvination of the cycle of nature by the pagan tribes in gemania, and among the celts and gaelic of Britania. It employed the evergreen tree because it was the sybol of life surviving winter. But, the burning of the Yule log was an orgy that went on until the fire went out. Christianity my ass. Christmas is a pagan ritual adopted to absorb pagans conquered by the romans.

Happy Fall Equinox everyone! We Texans are generally ready for some cooler weather. Nature is nice.

Plus I like how with the Solstices and Equinoxes, we get no pesky hyper-consumerism/capitalism problems to deal with. :o )

The rate at which the days are getting shorter is decreasing now, right? Happy inflection point to all!

I always try to use the fall and spring equinoxes, and the winter solstice, as opportunities to talk to my students about these natural occurances. I talked to my third graders today about how the tilt of the earth causes our seasons. At winter solstice, I read the book “The Winter Solstice” by Ellen Jackson. I like to give them a different view of the winter holidays, without getting too controversial, and without talking above them.

I’m sorry Joe, I can’t agree with you. I wish there WAS pesky consumerism – that way I would have gotten a present today! :-)

I really like Google’s fall-themed logo today. I like to pretend that cooler weather is just around the corner now – but here in FL we probably have another month or two of heat and humidity! :-(
