I actually have more respect for southern baptists and the flds than I do for these liberal xian congregations. They might be batshit crazy but at least they are following their religion and not picking and choosing.

Oh, they're picking and choosing -- along the same lines they always do: the ones that back up what they already think.

As George Bernard Shaw observed,"No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says; he is always convinced that it says what he means."

Congrats on your new position in American Atheists, Ed.

Just when you think the insanity should be over, you find yourself back in the 13th century. All these fundamentalists would be more comfortable there.
McCain had this to say about his ideology of market-based health reform.

From the Sept./Oct. issue of Contingencies: The magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.

I want to make a comment on the first letter, you called the other congregations liberal, I felt it was an interesting choice of words. Why liberal? Is it because any group that challenges the status quo is liberal, really, even when the group in question adhers to 2000 year old hebrew biasis?
If this is the definition of liberal then no wonder Senator Obama is not the runaway leader in this election, his opposition to the last eight years really marks him a liberal.

This is not a church/state issue, and the Southern Baptists will have to resolve this dilemma without any help from Atheists. But this is yet another piece of evidence that we'd all be better off without religion.

I see nothing has changed at AA...

It's always been a curiosity how those in our society without any standards always mock those parts of our society who do...

Ed...exactly how does this story prove that we'd be better off without religion...?
