Pray away the gay?

Gov. Sarah Palin’s tenure as the GOP nominee has seen its share of scandal and another potential scandal has cropped up, courtesy of the Alaska governor’s church. The Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed for about six years, is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.

I remember once, a long time ago, a maverick senator called people like Palin “Agents of intolerance” because they spent so much time trying to change other people to follow their own rules of behavior, instead of working for acceptance, tolerance, and unity. I can’t remember the senator’s name though. He seems to have vanished.

    Neo,

    prayer is seemingly answered

    That’s the only thing right.

Prayer works because the person believes in the power of prayer.

NO it does not work. Period.

Also, your point doesn’t say anything about the gullibility of the religious as a whole ? just that con men use religion as a means to conduct their cons.

COn men know their target audience well. They know what they are looking for in a large ready made audience to be exploited in their confidence games.

And as I see it, especially in the case of targeting the religious, con men are exploiting the believer’s belief system, their emotional state, etc., to con them ? not their gullibility.

I don’t think that gullibility is some permanent state of mind. The state of gullibility is induced and religion is a prime gullibility induction tool.

Great observation. I’d have to agree with that.

You obviously have no education in how our self perception and our belief system actually have an influence on what we accomplish or give up on before we even try.

I forgive your absolute ignorance, but, I have more trouble forgiving your insistance on expressing an opinion in a matter which you haven’t a clue.

I think it would be must better for you to post a comment like “I may be an idiot” than to express an opinion which removes all doubt.

    Neo,
Man, you’re sounding more and more disturbed as time goes by.

Here are a couple of links for you in regards to the effectiveness of prayer:

    http://www.whywontgodhealamputees.com/god5.htm

There have also been many independent studies that have concluded that prayer is ineffective.

If you still believe in prayer, why not believe in leprechauns as well?

    Moron!
