This former post of mine is more appropriate on this thread. So I'm re-posting.

The Phreekies still don't understand how our economy got so f'd up. They have no clue how the rethuglican attack on the regulation of the financial industry sat us up for this disaster. One need look no further than McSame's financial adviser Phil Graham for the answers.

Gramm was responsible for the efforts to pass "banking reform laws". Most notable was the landmark Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999. This act reduced government regulations (which existed since the Great Depression) separating the banking, insurance and brokerage industries.

The bad lending practices that were enabled by the rethuglicans resulted in bad loans being sold as AAA to unsuspecting investors such as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Now these institutions have failed and everyone of you is going to pay for this failure. The shock wave is propagating through our economy as we speak and it will only be getting worse.

And who do the rethuglicans put up as their candidate? John McCain! This scum bag was involved in protecting those that engineered our last banking disaster - The S and L Crisis of the late 80's and early 90's. The Keating Five would have been the Keating Four without John But-I'm-Still-A-POW McCain.
Dave,
Point well taken, that those who think that the free market will automatically respond in such a way as to remain competitive, even globally, given a free reign. That is many people's concept is of the solution to the energy crisis. It might have been had leadership acknowledged that everyone unaffiliated with big oil, the free economic thinkers have been saying for two decades was true. We are flying headlong into disaster. Can you imagine a scenario where we could even fight the two wars we are already fighting if another oil emabargo occurred? We are sitting ducks. Global oil could give a shit less? They will sell it to our enemies at the price of the highest bidder. Those Abrams tanks become rather inert with no diesel in the tank.

We have been sold out, but Americans voted in Bush because of his family values. And now their ready to vote in McBush for the same reason. America is about to disappear, because as a majority, we voted it to disappear. We are about to recieve what we deserve to recieve. You can set the alarm, but they don't have to wake up.
Now, Dave, a new requested thread,
JCC has been spreading Christian ideas, and on an open forem, I have no Problem with that.
JCC wants to quote the wisdom of his bible in debate in various forums, and I called him out as an expert on the bible he claims as the word of the creator of the universe, the undeniable last word.

I don't want to bore other free thinkers with this debate, unless they are interested enough to look in, but I would like to crucify this drone with the words of his own undeniable word of god. This is a request to run this idiot fleeing to restore his rediculous belief. To put him in his pathetic place. Not because he believes, because he seeks to evangelize.
CEH

The economic disaster that we are presently experiencing is almost entirely due to the rethuglican orchestrated housing/lending ponzi scheme. Phil Gramm's meddling and Greenspan's enabling are all that is necessary to explain this disaster. You can complain about NAFTA and WTO, as I do, but as a cause of the current disaster they aren't even in consideration for runner-up.
