That was oddly uncomfortable to watch. Don’t know if it was the parents’ occasional encouraging ‘amen’s and ‘praise the lord’s (oblivious to how accurately depicted their own preacher is by a toddler) or the fact that I know this child is going to be irreversibly conditioned down this path of sermoning for the rest of his pre-programmed life…

As bad as it looks now, this kid might still fight off the mind-virus someday. I’ve heard enough stories of ex-preacher, now-atheists to maintain hope.

Christianity has only ever been spread by war and childhood indoctrination, never by persuasion. Christianity will always be limited by the ability of its adherents to win wars and force religion on others and/or to reproduce and force it upon the kids. That’s not to mention the casualties from those religious wars.

Atheism, on the other hand, can be adopted by people at any stage of life, in any culture, peacefully. The spread of atheism is limited only by the inertia of cultural change and the higher reproduction rates of religious families. Atheism also has the benefit of allowing for cross-cultural understanding and agreement, whereas religious differences are only ‘resolved’ by violence.

Which movement has more of a future?

Using only history as a guide… religion does.

I think its funny to imagine that the babble this child is vomiting is equally as useless as the babble from a full grown minister.

Religion is so ridiculously simple and stupid, an infant can preach it.

Now, that’s something to think about…

    :)

I like seeing atheists preaching up front like this and it is my sincere hope this cute little kid remains an atheist for the rest of his life.

A clean sheet scribbled on. Hopefully his confused parents will take him to a creationism museum after he gains the ability to think abstractly. A bunch of Atheists will cruise out of Kentucky down the road. The malarky of Christianity makes as much sense as the little guy in the garb of the rich. Shame we can’t see his dad in his costume hootin and hollerin. Bet he’s not a Catholic.

Maybe in order to understand god, we have to look at the word itself: “god”. Basically, it’s made up of two separate words – “g” and “od”. What do these words mean? It’s a mystery, and that’s why so is god.

OMFG, he is speaking in tongues that little midget preacher is speaking in tongues. Cancel my membership in American Atheists, Oh jesus I’m comeing home

  9. avatar joe zamecki says:

Screw that. I can’t watch that. Not one second. That’s child abuse.

  10. avatar alexatheist says:

At least his nonsensical rantings from the pulpit can be attributed to his age.

  11. avatar freethought1 says:

Child abuse, I agree. Similar to Sam Kinison’s upbringing I’d guess. He was able to escape eventually, so there may be hope.

    Marjoe Gortner’s back!!

  13. avatar mdetrano says:

Since this looks like a gag ridiculing loudmouth preachers, I gotta say it is pretty damn hilarious.

If it turns out to be another family trying to make an even younger Duffey Strode (remember him?), then I am truly sorry for the little tike.

  14. avatar sunshine says:

    LOL atheon. I totally agree.

That was rather amusing to watch. Somewhat disturbing though. I’d be interested to know how he turns out in the future.

666, that’s the first thing I thought of, Marjoe Gortner.
