What kind of teacher is this guy, anyway? I agree with alexatheist. Why did the community keep a so called teacher (more like an inquisitor) in the classrooms?

A recent poll showed that one out of six American high school biology teachers are creationists. They should all be fired, but in America incompetence is not a problem. Nobody complains because the students and parents are creationists. America has the most stupid backward population in the Western world. Only about 14% of Americans accept evolution without invoking a sky fairy to guide it. Another interesting fact - only 4% of Republicans accept evolution without invoking Mr. God to guide it. 60% of Republicans believe the entire universe was magically created less than 10,000 years ago. Americans really are that stupid.

Looks like Freshwater has a Millstone around his neck!

The notion that carbon 14 dating is unreliable is an old creationist argument that had some merit when first advanced in the '70s. Dating techniques have advanced remarkably since, but creationists still haul out that tired old saw.

Nothing against teachers, but the appalling statistics on science teachers and creationists goes to show the difference between those who do and those who teach. Their missions are different and at least on some level, any assessment of their motivations to teach should be gauged accordingly.
Man, with every day that passes, I'm more and more embarrassed to have been born and raised in Ohio (Columbus area).
I'm not surprised that this happened in Mt. Vernon. Sounds like a nice place, but don't let the name fool you. It's a small community with (mostly) small minded people.
That's how he got away with it for so long.

Parents have been complaining for eleven years about this guy bringing religion into a public classroom and yet he is still teaching. WHY?

Simple...it's called tenure and the NEA. It's virtually impossible to get rid of a teacher...regardless of what a teacher may tell you...

This guy should have been run out of the classroom long ago. When I read this story the other day I knew some weak minded individuals would attempt to use this teacher as an example of ALL Christian teachers...
