    Good news, indeed!

I have it, and I can say it was better than I expected.

Sad what the fundie wackos did to this family, though.

I will download it. Lets hope there’s nothing close by that I can break if I get pissed off

This is the big news story in Raleigh right now:

Crazy xian kills her kid becasue god told her to:

Stories like this one are horrible, but the Fundies do so love to spread the Good News of the infinite intolerance of their Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy.

It won’t be too much longer before the science of psychiatry recognizes Fundamentalist Disorder as the mental illness it really is.

Cue hateful response from followers of Jeebus in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Has anyone seen “Heart of the Beholder” yet? It sort of seems like it might be one of those cheesy made for tv movies from Lifetime or Oxygen networks. I’m expecting Valerie Bertinelli to pop out at some point…

Hard to imagine why he would waste his time posting it here otherwise…

    What dribble…

It’s human nature to want to blame others for their own failures…

You don’t lose your business, lose your marriage, lose your daughter, owe the IRS payroll taxes from doing everything right. There are many examples of businesses that have been picketed and yet remain in business…

    This guy had problems…period.

“The CFD declared war and the Howards received death threats against their daughter.”

Death threats against a store owner’s daughter. Death threats against the Dover judge and his family. Christians are thugs.

    Phreedm-
I doubt you’ve seen the movie, so if you haven’t, shut the hell up, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.
It’s a (true) story of what can happen when intolerant religious bigots (kind of an oxymoron, huh?) get their way and make a family’s life a living hell. The business problems they had wasn’t because of their personal failures, but of those said religious fundie wackos.

    Alex-
Yep, I’ve seen it (own it), and I can tell you that it was better than I expected, and was better than a made for TV movie. Obviously not big budget, but good, none the less.

  9. avatar dsilverman says:

    Phreedm,

That’s “Drivel”, not “Dribble”. One word is for a basketball, one is for a Bible. heh heh heh

Yeah but is Valerie Bertinelli in it? That bitch is in every low budget made for tv movie. :-)

I remeber when “The Last Temptation of christ” came out on video and I rented it from our local little hillbilly video rental store. There was never any fuss made over it. Isn’t it funny how something becomes an issue in certain places but not others? it sucked as a movie anyway.

Dave must have some personal relationship with the producer…

Funny – the only personal relationships discussed here are the ones between a prosecutor being blackmailed by supposed christians for his relationship with prostitutes, and the ones between religiously insane hypocrites who have no problems destroying other people’s lives and the innocent people whose lives they’re ruining by harrassing them.

Did you pick up that rumor between sodomy sessions at your last worship services?

Hard to imagine why he would waste his time posting it here otherwise…

Um – because it shows a bunch of out of control relgiously insane theocrats practicing religious based persecution in america, and this is an atheist site devoted to pointing that sort of thing out?

Sorry if Jeebus forgot to mention it in your Big Book of christian Fairy Tales…

    What dribble…

As other rational humans have already pointed out, if you weren’t so much into the faith based spelling and grammar lessons, you might have got a bit closer to making a point here. A non reality based, occult superstitionist point with no connection to the topic at hand, but still, your drivel might sound a bit less like it’s coming from the local nut house…

It’s human nature to want to blame others for their own failures…

…says the supposed christian who projects his own religious insanity onto others, fails to honor the religious rules he pretends he’s close to following, and hypocritically lies (once again in opposition to the rules he’s supposedly living by) about those who do not share his brand of religious insanity. Project much?

You don’t lose your business, lose your marriage, lose your daughter, owe the IRS payroll taxes from doing everything right. There are many examples of businesses that have been picketed and yet remain in business…

Funny how you have failed to make note of any of those other businesses. How many of those were continually harrassed by a bunch of crazy religious types who hypocritically lie about those they persecute? How many of those businesses were also harrassed by local prosecutors on trumped up charges? While that prosecutor was being blackmailed by christians?

Nice sets of morals you’re defending there, phreakshow.

    This guy had problems…period.

…says the christian who wastes hours on a daily basis trolling an atheist’s blog and making religiously insane comments there.

Maybe you should put what little mind you have into gear before stuffing even more of your foot in your mouth…

Personally speaking, I would be interested in getting a copy of this movie – and unlike others, who feel justified in pontificating and evaluating something they have no clue about (as usual), I will wait to pass judgement on this movie until after I see it.

I still can’t shake the idea that our least favourite troll is actually a dedicated (and fairly demented) atheist who wants to ensure the success of this blog by encouraging people to comment. He often achieves a 4:1 ratio of responses to his provocations.

An agent provocateur, in other words. Who can offer proof that I am wrong here?

  13. avatar flanonblvr says:

i’ve often thought phreedm was a plant of some kind because it really is hard to imagine someone being as tenaciously ignorant, irrational and provocative for such a long time. but i think karen knows that he is real (unlike his god).

back to topic….having read the story line of this movie it is easy to imagine radical xtians doing this. no different than radical muslims, radical ecoterrorists, etc. anyone who is a zealot can do such things in the name of being the one “in the right”.

this type behaviour again points out the inability for rational thought by “brainwashed” zealots and the obvious conclusion that they cannot be made to realize that they are genetically defective in rational thought.

First off BJ…I wouldn’t waste my time on such “dribble” (Look it up Dave)…

Second, tell me exactly how protesters would cause a business owner to become delinquent with payroll taxes to the IRS…

Third, the story line is terrible. And yet you buy into the argument that the only reason it’s not being picked up by theaters is because of the RR’s intimidation…Darlene Lieblich made a bad investment and is now trying to recoup her loses…

Fourth, there’s a very good chance Tipton declared bankruptcy to avoid his financial obligations. Why else would he have opened 4 new video stores (River City Video)

    Now sayonara…

    What’s that about ignorance?

  16. avatar atomictesting says:

    From Merriam-Webster Online:

    Main Entry: dribble
    Function: noun
    Date: circa 1680
1 : a tiny or insignificant bit or quantity
2 : a small trickling stream or flow
3 : an act, instance, or manner of dribbling a ball or puck
    ? drib?bly \ˈdri-b(ə-)lē\ adjective

I see nothing aplicable. I could see it if you were trying to pass the term off as a verb, though none of the definitions still apply.

    Main Entry: drivel
    Function: noun
    Date: 14th century
    1archaic : drool 1
    2: nonsense

Note the designation as archaic for #1. It also does not imply that the term “dribble” used as a noun is a synonym (it is not).

I’ve corrected you on the use of this word before. You’ve merely gone on being ignorant of anything you’ve ever been corrected on.

P.S. Dave nailed this one pretty well. Quick, someone call Merriam-Webster and ask that the following be added as definitions to drivel(n):

3: Anything deemed as holy scripture.
4: Anything said by clerics of any faith.
5: Anything said by an internet forum troll. (see: Forum Troll (n), syn. Phreedm)

well you prove my point again. you choose to ignore what the xtian radicals did to these people and focus instead on your assumed misbehavior of the victims. no matter what the Howards may have done, the actions of the xtians are not justifiable by true xtians.

    comprende?

    “xtian radicals”? “victims”?

So they protested. Big deal. Are you stating we don’t have the right to protest? And that anyone who does protest is a “radical”? Or are they radicals simply because their views are different from yours?

Do you believe this guys world fell apart ONLY because of the protesters?

Tell me…why did he open video stores in the same locations AFTER declaring bankruptcy? And why was this fact ignored by the writer and producer?

If you want to believe everything at face value, you go right ahead…

NO. PROTESTING IS NOT THE ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE INFO THEY ENGAGED IN DEATH THREATS, ETC. THAT IS MY PROBLEM WITH THE XTIAN INVOLVEMENT AND THE UN-XTIAN BEHAVIOR.

Do you believe this guys world fell apart ONLY because of the protesters?
I DON’T KNOW BUT IT IS IRRELEVANT TO THE XTIANS BEHAVIOR. IF HE WAS A TAX EVADER, IT DOESN’T JUSTIFY THE XTIAN BEHAVIOR.

Tell me…why did he open video stores in the same locations AFTER declaring bankruptcy? And why was this fact ignored by the writer and producer?
AGAIN, I DON’T KNOW AND IT DOESN’T MATTER. YOU ARE TRYING TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT. THE XTIAN BEHAVIOR IS NOT JUSTIFIABLE IN THE CONTEXT OF XTIAN VALUES.

  24. avatar atomictesting says:

Protesting out front of a store calls attention to the protesters (which is what they want). That attention allows them to arrange a successful boycott.

You’re saying a successful boycott doesn’t affect the bottom line of a company and can’t cause them to go out of business?

Of course, nobody else in the area would stick up for the guy and patronize his establishments even if they were on his side. Anyone seen crossing the picket lines would likely face the same kind of treatment from the vindictive type that would boycott a store over content it has the legal right to sell. This would make the boycott even more effective – fear of similar treatment.

It’s the reason the holocaust continued for as long as it did and the reason that the crusades happened at all. Treat people harshly and make sure everyone else knows you’ll do it to them if they speak out against it and you’ll find that very few will speak out.

Maybe when they blackmailed the local prosecutor to legally harrass the video store, they might have slightly exceeded their ‘right to protest’? Or when, as other have pointed out, they engaged in illegally sending them death threats?

What was that about blindness again?
