King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia called for a dialogue among monotheistic religions Monday, marking a first for the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom. “I ask representatives of all the monotheistic religions to meet with their brothers in faith,” Abdullah told delegates to a seminar on “Dialogue Among Civilizations between Japan and the Islamic World,” according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).?If God wills it, we will then meet with our brothers from other religions, including those of the Torah and the Gospel… to come up with ways to safeguard humanity,” he added.Abdullah said the country?s top clerics have given him approval to pursue his idea and that he plans to get the opinion of Muslim leaders from other countries.According to SPA, the Saudi king also intends to address the United Nations on the subject.”We have lost sincerity, morals, fidelity and attachment to our religions and to humanity,” Abdullah said Monday, deploring “the disintegration of the family and the rise of atheism in the world ? a frightening phenomenon that all religions must confront and vanquish.”Abdullah’s message of tolerance comes at a time of religious tensions caused by the re-igniting of a two-year-old controversy over Danish cartoons deemed by Muslims to be insulting.Danish newspapers reprinted the controversial cartoon of the Muslim prophet Mohammed last month in defiance of Islamic extremism and to defend freedom of expression.
There are so many things I can write down here, I really don’t know where to start.Atheists didn’t make your cartoon, Your Highness, and we didn’t kill innocent people when they were published. We’re standing on the side, watch as Islamic hordes killed innocent people because of a drawing. A DRAWING!This reminds me of Hitler. All united against the terrible religious minority, whose only crime is speaking, or even just being. I hope the Jews don’t fall for this. And How exactly can a quote about “vanquishing” a group of people due to their philosophy sound like a “message of tolerance”?Folks, for those who haven’t written a letter to the editor recently, now’s the time. Go sick. Post the letters here. MINE IS POSTED IN THE COMMENTS. And if this P.O.S comes to the UN, we will make our presence known.American Atheists urges all people of all religions to voice their concern over this grave and scary message. These are terrorists and terrorist supporters, and they want you on their side.

Vanquish this, motherfucker.
I am not losing any sleep over it yet. The religiious retards all in one place, in one room? Discussing how to safeguard humanity? Ha, ha, what a joke.
First they won’t be able to agree on where to meet, when to meet, how long to meet, etc.
If they do meet, they will all kill eachother, most likely. They will bicker and go to blows over who speaks first, whose name to call their imaginary friend, what to wear, are women anything mote than baby machines, etc. Has the makings of a great SNL sketch, though.
If the worthless UN does acknowledge this horse shit, I will happily write letters, protest, etc, however. I will also write letters in the meantime and hope you all post them here so I can get some great ideas!!!
Interesting that the polytheistic folks have no say in the matter. Are they evil, too, or just too stupid to be included in the conversation?
Thanks for the tip.
When the Pope was in Turkey, I remember a shocking news video containing a statement by a Vatican spokesman. I don’t have a link to the video (I’m writing this from memory) but the messaqe was clear. The guy said something to the effect that the church’s position was that the basic conflict in the world was not a clash of civilizations but the clash between belief and unbelief and that the Vatican would hope to have Islam as an ally. I probably have not recalled the statement exactly but I’m pretty sure I’ve got the essentials right. I could hardly believe what I was hearing.
BTW, I came over here to see if this organization has issued a press release about the 11 year old girl in Weston Wis who died because her parents just prayed instead of seeking medical help.
At least he is looking for a dialogue, even if it isn’t with us. The monotheists are the ones killing each other. Like I care anyway what they say.
The only message he could possibly have said that would please this community anyway would be something like: “We have decided to just give up religion here in the middle east…fuck that god bullshit.” Like that is going to happen.
Of course they view atheism as a threat. It is.
An open Letter to the Christian and Jewish Communities regarding King Abdullah?s ?Message of INtolerance?
I read in horror that King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia had invited leaders of the Abrahamic Faiths to meet with him regarding “the disintegration of the family and the rise of atheism in the world ? a frightening phenomenon that all religions must confront and vanquish.” What was even more horrifying was YOUR positive response!
The message was cloaked in tolerance for Jews and Christians, but this isn?t about peace ? it?s about a new war against a new common ?enemy?: Atheists.
But we are not your enemy! Sure, we disagree on the existence of deities, but we?re just talking (like you are). Yet this ?wonderful statesman? wants us vanquished, with your help.
According to the Pew Research Council, Secular people (atheists) make up about 10.4% of the US Population or about 32 Million people (twice the number of all non-Christians combined). That?s a lot of vanquishing!
All humans have something in common. We live in a world where bigotry and intolerance has devastated or destroyed whole groups of people because of thought or lineage. King Abdullah is clearly trying to organize another such effort, and like always, it?s all under the guise of ?peace.? Hitler did that too.
American Atheists urges the religious leaders and parishioners to take a step back and ask yourself: ?What if King Abdullah had asked for a meeting to talk about vanquishing US instead of the Atheists??
If his Highness is really interested in peace, then all groups ? monotheistic, polytheistic, and non-theistic, should be welcomed at his table. Where there is exclusion, there can never be peace.
Frankly, you should all know that by now.

How funny that a Wahabi would speak of tolerence. Talk about ironic.
Dave
Before you send your letter would you mind if I take a shot at massaging it a bit?
Also I would lay off the “terrorist” label. It has become a meaningless and all-purpose word used to give cover to those who wish to shut down diplomacy and begin killing.
Dave
Were Abdullah’s words, as given in your post, a translation of words written/spoken in arabic or were they written/spoken by Abdullah in english?
What,
Here’s the link.

and here’s the quote:
The letter was massaged a bit, and then sent, but thanks for your offer.
YOU COULD ALWAYS WRITE YOUR OWN! HINT HINT HINT!!!
Atheophobia and homophobia give the Abrahamic religions something in common but Islam’s place for women is far less civilized than that of Judaism and Christianity. What next? Will Muslims start murdering Atheists and non-traditional families?
I actually prefer that the Abrahamic religions battle each other, then you can tell the two losers to shut the fuck up.
FINALLY maybe you will understand how dangerous radical Islam is…
Comment from: sam moore jr
They already are…
And exactly what type of a world do you think we’d have if Islam were allowed to take over?
One need not look and farther then Western Europe…
And I’m sure the usual morons will question this…
As I asked in another post Dave…why isn’t AA going after Islam in America? You claim you have, and yet can’t provide a single case. Instead you keep up your chicken little attacks on Christianity…
You need to open your eyes and see who’s the real threat to America…
An amped-up version of what it would be like to have Christianity take over.
Why don’t all you Abrahamic dickheads go to hell?
Dave:
Your statement is very clear. Thank you for your efforts.
phreedm -
No more dangerous than christianity is.
And you can say that christians aren’t killing Americans here in this country, but neither are “radical Islamists”.
And just to rant for a moment, how can this islamists be “facists”? Or how are they different from the government we currently have in place, which is the textbook definition of “facist”.
At least you’re somewhat entertaining…
This is a message of tolerance?
The disintegration of the family is because of the atheists in the world, and yet we make up such a small portion of the population.
And yet, prisons are full of believers.
What am I missing here?
Dave
It looks like some zionists are biting at Abdullah’s bait:
http://tinyurl.com/2hgw4o
Maybe you could explain to me how high up the jewish clergy chain of command this guy is.
Phreeky and his evangelical-war-mongering-brethren supported the invasion and murder of thousands of Iraqis. Now they have the nerve to criticize the blood-lust of another abrahamic religion. They are all playing the same game – just wearing different jerseys.
Bones
Why, the healing power of the holy spirit of course. You silly.
Comment from Phreedm:
Well, look at the danger of relying on xtian prayer. This poor girl’s family believed if they had faith in god and prayed, their daugher would get better:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,341574,00.html
Sad thing is that now they think it is their own fault for not having *enough* faith.
Humans have a history of killing those with whom we disagree. Google “religious martyrs” for ample evidence.
But don’t exclude political martyrs from consideration. From Robespierre to Pol Pot, atheists have left a trail of blood ? particularly in the 20th century ? that often eclipses that of religionists.
Conclusion?
Irrational hatred is neither a religionist condition nor an atheist condition. It is a human condition.
addendum…
Anyone care to identify the celebrated atheist who penned these phobic, hate-filled remarks?
?But my point in this section is that even mild and moderate religion helps to provide the climate of faith in which extremism naturally flourishes? (see page 303).
[The point being: tolerate no religion or religionist.]
?Only religious faith is a strong enough force to motivate such utter madness in otherwise sane and decent people? (see page 303).
?They perceive their acts to be good, not because of some warped personal idiosyncracy, and not because they have been possessed by Satan, but because they have been brought up, from the cradle, to have total and unquestioning faith? (see page 304.)
?If God wills it, we will then meet with our brothers from other religions, including those of the Torah and the Gospel… to come up with ways to safeguard humanity,” he added.
Thanks anyhow. I’m not sure if torturing non-brothers who don’t subscribe to any of the standard monotheistic fairy tales is going to get much support. The safeguards for humanity that the religiously insane have cooked up so far, historically speaking, haven’t quite worked out so well…

FINALLY maybe you will understand how dangerous radical Islam is…
…if i SHOUT AT YOU FOR LONG ENOUGH!!!11!1! maybe you’ll think my unfounded, illogical, irrational comment has some basis in reality!
They already are…
…just like the christians and the jews. It’s a trifecta of religiously insane hatred!
And exactly what type of a world do you think we’d have if Islam were allowed to take over?
The same kind of world we already have where the christians, jews, and muslims are in charge: religious pogroms and violence in the name of invisible sky fairies. Thanks, religion, for showing us how hateful and dangerous you all are!
One need not look and farther then Western Europe…
…if one were a religiously insane christian mental midget who has no right to make the insinuations and/or adnvance the factually lacking bullsh!t he spews here on a daily basis.
And I’m sure the usual morons will question this…
…because the usual religiously insane idiot thinks that he should be allowed to spout his deluded superstitious nonsense on an atheist blog wihtout being called on his shameful lying.
Easy solution: stop lying and peddling your religiously insane comments around here, and you won’t get a nasty taunting every time you try and davance your chistianist propaganda.
As I asked in another post Dave…why isn’t AA going after Islam in America? You claim you have, and yet can’t provide a single case. Instead you keep up your chicken little attacks on Christianity…
As many have asked you in just about every post where you’ve dared to ask others questions, while refusing to answer them yourself: just exactly who do you think you are, gawd-bot, to demand answers from others when you are categorically unable to respond to anyone else? Why should anyone pay attention to your lunatic ravings and demands for a response when you lack even the basic civility to behave the way you require others to?
You need to open your eyes and see who’s the real threat to America…
…while you need to seriously STFU and stop trying to peddle your occult nonssense around here.
Suck it, jeebus phreak!

Now Ren…thats now what a review of World History and World economic standards reveals…
Sure there have been blights on the Christian record. I’ll be the first to admit that…
But one need only look around the globe to see what countries developed the highest standard of living with the majority of their citizens as being Christian…
Is the world perfect? No way…
Did the world change for the good immediately after Christ? No way…
Did America become free for all immediately after the signing of the constitution? Absolutely not…
But both laid the groudwork for the improvements of all…
Name any other religion that has accomplished as much good for the world or mankind…?

How can anyone debate someone who makes opening statement like this?
Exactly who was it that attacked America on 9/11…?
Oh wait…it was Bush and Haliburton with internal controlled demolition…
Dave…your brainwashing seems to have been successful…at least with one of your followers…
Here we have someone comparing the acts of a cult who calls themselves christian with a major world movement bent on destroying the Western world…
Sheesh….
tom, you really are wasting your symbolic breath. Your energy and intellect is much better spent skipping over dumbass’ rantings and addressing intelligent posts
“is” should be “are”
Dave…I’m still waiting for you to offer us a link to a press release were AA sued a Jew or Arab…?
…And all of us are waiting for you to honestly answer one of the hundreds of questions posed to you.
And yes, because that family was so brainwashed on the belief that prayer actually works (which has been proven time and time again it doesn’t), that idiocy KILLED THEIR DAUGHTER!
Relying solely on prayer can be extremely dangerous. Their daughter would be alive if it wasn’t for their religion. I hope they get locked up for murder.
Dave, great letter and let Phreedm wait. He thinks he’s entitled to an answer from you. Don’t give him the satisfaction. Honestly, he hasn’t earned it.
Japan, not xian. Mexico, very xian.

I agree with you completely – arguments with the religiously insane often turn out like this.
But I’m doing this for several reasons:
1. Infotainment value in pointing out how much and how often supposedly christian individuals break the moral codes they claim to be promoting in today’s world. Some of the brain-dead cultists (not to mention any phreakshows by name or anything like that) make it really easy to do…
2. Personal enjoyment in seeing just how much of a pretzel the religiously insane can twist themselves into in order to justify their immoral abominations of the superstitions they claim to follow. The whole being a completely rude and uncivil areshole while doing it is just metaphorical icing on the cake.
3. It seems that some of these unethical immoral cultists think that they can intmidate those who do not share their delusional fantasies. They even think that they can pollute the comment thread of an atheistic web site without their fantasies being challenged. They also seem to think that it is more offensive for rational No Gawd Blog readers to challenge their delusions than it is for them to spew them here.
I seek to enlighten the studio audience (it appears that the deluded cultists will be brain-dead forever) of their agenda, and that it is possible to enjoy some nasty tauntings on the subject while infotaining the studio audience and advancing counter-memes to combat their institutionalized insanity.
4. Unlike certain lying sacks of phreakish religious insanity, I have actually had real feedback from real people on this web site that has expressed appreciation for my efforts. The fact that these clowns have not yet managed to even land a glove on me, argument-wise, and that they generally duck and cover whenever I bring up any of their myriad exercises in superstitious delusion. Maybe others will find inspiration in my efforts.
Speaking of unethical, immoral, factually challenged, arrogant religiously insane Republican;t Putsch fellators:
Comment from: phreedm
Dave…I’m still waiting for you to offer us a link to a press release were AA sued a Jew or Arab…?
And I’m still going to point out that, as usual, a phreakishly ignorant religiously insane Republican’t Putsch fellator thinks he has the right to demand answers from others when he cannot even be civil enough to answer others.
We’re still waiting for you to back up any of religiously insane propaganda, phreakshow. Any time you’re ready. Or are you too much of a bedwetting chickenhawk to actually do what you demand of others?
The rest of the non-points that jeebus phreaking keerist tries to use to throw the comments off topic aren’t even worthy of bringing up. Personally, I think it’s just the crack talking most of the time.
Suck it, jeebus phreak!

It would be nice if AA maintained a web page with the list of current legal activities it’s involved in. Not for Phreedom’s benefit, but for those of us who are members of AA.
I would ask that Pig King Abullah of that fine stone-throwing dictatorship why he doesn’t have any tolerance or respect for half the human population, i.e. women.
I sometimes get criticized for criticizing jewish believers, but I am an equal opportunity skeptic.
Any muslim man who goes to a mosque and sticks his ass up in the air to get sodomized by Allah or Mohammad is not to be trusted, especially by women.
Many men of muslim background are fine people. But not those who go to a mosque, who are simply misogynist pigs. I don’t care if I offend some male muslim believer. They offend intelligence.
You can find a lot of pictures of Bush with Pig King Abdullah.

I actually think this is good news. The less power someone has, the more radical they often become. I feel that if we’re being attacked with permission from the clerics, the clerics power is waning and they need new targets. The devoutly religious may be under heavier critisism because the population of Saudi Arabia could be becoming more secular. Remember the rape victim a few weeks back: supposedly the majority supported not punishing her. I think the call is nothing more than a desperate attempt to hold on to power, but I may be overly optimistic.
I think that the clerics are looking for new targets as a way to retain power. Maybe Saudi Arabia is starting to demand more freedoms that the clerics are afraid of and they need something else to rally people around. I suppose I could be overly optimistic, however, but I think that this may be a sign like how increasingly secular America is getting increasingly fundie prayer warriors. Just think of the Phelps: More acceptance of homosexuality = more nutty pastors.
Augustine,
I think you might be right. At least, I hope so.
Oh wait, atheists have no hope. Silly me.

I guess it takes one to know one…
Haven’t you learned by now that your phreakishly ignorant pagan occult ravings have no meaning around here? It is amazing how you continue to lie your a$$ off around here and expect others to believe any of your vile screechings.
Have you ever backed up any of the fairy tales you spin around here? Or do you seriously expect others to believe your deliberate misrepresentations without question? I only ask rhetorically, because it appears you think you’re too good to act like the regular people and sully your beautiful mind with the petty concerns of the average mortal.

So, ok, we have to qualify the original statement to now say:
But one need only look around the globe to see what countries developed the highest standard of living with the majority of their citizens as being Christian and/or rebuilt by Christians…
OK, so that covers Japan. But what about Mexico? I’ve got it! Let’s rewrite it this way:
But one need only look around the globe to see what countries developed the highest standard of living with the majority of their citizens as being white Christians and/or rebuilt by white Christians…
There you go, I fixed it for ya. And if you can see the flaw in mine, you’ll know the flaw in yours.
phreedm:
after the influence of the USA, sure, ok… but obviously not the RELIGIOUS influence of the USA, or else they would be christian.
could it be that the majority religion of the US is not what made our influence on the japanese beneficial?
maybe we can look at other examples of “pagan” countries that were “civilized” by christian countries…
oh, I know… most of Central America! that fits the bill.
or, how about most of colonialized Africa?
I guess when we consider them, it starts to look like the introduction of christianity (or islam, yech) wasn’t exactly a shining high-point in the history of most of those countries.
of course, thats not to say that all non-christian countries have a higher standard of living. china and north korea are both pretty low on the totem pole.
why, you know, its almost like the religion of a country has practicaly NOTHING to do with its success! maybe we should focus on OTHER factors, like the availability of natural resources, or effective management of those resources, or the capacity of a country to produce its own food and clean water, or endemic diseases, or the presence of strong trading partners or rivals, etc etc etc.
you know, I’ll bet that the quality of a countries science education has almost a 1-1 correspondance to its standard of living. I’m not saying its a causual relationship either way, but there is a strong correlation there. I wonder what conclusions we could draw from that little nugget…
Comment from: Angel_Of_Light
OK, so that covers Japan. But what about Mexico? I’ve got it! Let’s rewrite it this way:
Mexico was conquered by christians, who then murdered their men and raped their women.
So I guess some might think that christianity was good for mexicans. The mexicans that the christians allowed to live, that is.
Must be more of that noble, valorous, civilization-enhancing behavior that has endeared christianity to so many in the world today…
That’s an amazing talent Phreeky has. He can engage his motor cortex to type independent of his frontal lobes input. A truly astonishing feat.

However this aims to specifically safeguard Islam.
Of course, Dave doesn’t want his fellow Jews to fall for this, but they can continue believing in the myth that they are an elite chosen race who has a diving right to the middle-east and can kill and oppress anyone who gets in the way of their pure jewish state. They can keep on killing those arab goyim and surrounding them with prison walls, right Dave, as long as they don’t work with the goyim for any other religious crimes. Of course when the jews kill innocent men, women and children as a means to accomplish political measures, its not terrorism and all those American zionists who support the ethnic cleansing of Palestine aren’t “terrorist supporters” right Dave? Only those brown Arab muslims are terrorists, right Dave? Never the poor white Joooooooooooos.
