The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a report that states 26 percent of American teenage females (3.2 million) is infected with at least one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases (human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia, herpes simplex virus, and trichomoniasis).Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said the study shows that “the national policy of promoting abstinence-only programs is a $1.5 billion failure, and teenage girls are paying the real price.”Thank you BTMFs.Peter Nuhn

Ren,
I’d be really surprised if the virus survived in the jesus-ohol. But it would be really disturbing if that were true.
Not only would the church be guilty of ignoring human nature, but they’d also be actively spreading herpes.
The quotes I have used are that of Napoleon Bonaparte, for you reference Karen. You are correct when I contradict myself, but you failed to see the purpose behind the written contradiction. Re-read the sentence and think of what is written, and know that the contradiction is intended to prove my point of both atheists and religious people. Furthermore, Karen, you cannot possibly say that you would not use or manipulate people?s belief in God. It can amaze you what people will do when given the opportunity. I also speak of people who are in a real sense of power, and have, or are close, to grasping it on a large scale (American politicians, as well as Canadian, have and will continue to manipulate religion to their advantage). In continuance, atheism is a belief. It is a belief in which you decide to believe in the non-existent belief of God. True, atheism is a word, but so is KAREN, so is GOD. A word is simply a man made method of describing the world around him. It is simple. You believe that God exists, in whatever form suits you or, you believe that there is no God and only the decisions and will of men.
In response to drchris06: You, my friend, display confidence in your simple, yet ignorant point. ?I checked – all the quotes listed by the 19-yr old canuck are by Napoleon. I guess he’s got us – I mean, who are argue with a 5-foot tell dead Frenchman.? The first I must say is your use of the word Canuck is wrong. It describes French Canadians, of which I assure you, I am not. Secondly, do not assume my age by deciding that 1989 refers to birth year. Assumptions can cause you a world of problems (a little future advice). Finally, it amazes me that you attempt to insult Napoleon Bonaparte. He was short, true, but he rose to greater heights than an arrogant, and ignorant commoner such as you ever will. His name has survived centuries; yours will not survive your family. I must also say that just because someone is dead, does not mean that they still do not live. He is a hero of a nation, and is one man, of the very few, who is worthy of remembrance. ?SO LONG AS WE ARE REMEMBERED, WE YET HOLD ALL THE POWER OF LIFE, IN OUR COLD DEAD HANDS?. Finally, do not respond to me again if you cannot put a sentence together properly, your grammar is reprehensible.
What, you make a valid point. I am no different from you, but I am merely young (You assumed correctly before drchris06). However, being young, the world is open to me. I have already put myself on a path of truth, duty and valour, and intend to make full use of that path to attain all my ambitions.
DD Dropout: As dangerous as assumptions are, I do not doubt the word dropout has a significant meaning for you. It is clear that you are of inferior mind, because your inabilities, ignorance, and laziness are evident. You would dare to call me a village idiot when all you can say about the written work is ?weird? and ?I couldn’t get past his first line so I don’t know what to make of it all.? It is clear that you, of course I must assume that you live in a village, are the village idiot.
Danger:
Oh, I’ve seen alex use all sorts of statistics to denigrate anyone who isn’t white.
He hates the Jews, blacks, Arab immigrants, is a holocaust revisionist, a 9/11 denier & I’ve seen some pretty hairy shit get flung from his corner.
Yeah, he’s got it all figured out, from his little corner of Durham.
Durham ain’t the whole world, I might add.
Wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the Bell Curve & the Protocols of Zion in his library. Probably both dog-eared & worn, I might imagine.
Bad as Phreddy Phallacymaster, in his own way.
I find it interesting that there is such a disparity between the rates of STD infection between whites and blacks because it is such a large difference and I would like to know the factors that make this so, wouldn’t you? It’s a public health crisis after all. I have theories about why black girls are more prone to VD but I would like to see them backed up with some facts so I will be following this study as it develops.
I am all too aware of the rates of HIV among gay men which is why I practice only safe sex to the point of absurdity. However, the difference is that those who die from AIDS made a choice to engage in risky behaviour and those who die a random death at the hands of black thugs did not make a choice to have a bullet put in their head. You might be surprised that I have little sympathy for gay men who contract AIDS through unsafe sex with multiple partners.
I find it incredibly interesting and I have done my research to know why this is. Mainly it is becasue of the method of transmission and the fact that gay men tend to be more promiscious than straight men and more so than women of all sexual orientations. This is why I take my personal sexual responsibility very seriously and do not close my eyes to the AIDs problem in the gay community.
I live in the real world and I am not so open minded that my brain falls out. What I find to be the most insidious about your politically correct brand of dogma is that it elevates people’s feelings above indispuable facts and causes you to ignore or attack facts when they are in direct opposition to your indoctrination. You suffer from a severe case of cognitive dissonance my friend.
Because it is my nature as a gay man to be attracted to other men. This attraction doesn’t mean that I ignore the fact that men are more likely to be violent than women which is part of the reason why I am very selective about the company that I keep. I tend to surround myself with people who resemble me in order to help eliminate undesirables from my life. Freedom of association is still guaranteed to American citizens is it not?
Alex,
You haven’t answered my question!
Why do you find it so “interesting” that black girls have higher rates of STD infection than white girls?
ie what is your point????
I am not disputing the statistics, or your right to selectively quote them. My question is simple….so what??
From your previous posts, it seems clear to me, that you are using this statistic to denegrate black people.
I was simply reminding you that homosexuals are similarly afflicted with higher rates of STDs. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
What would you think of my motives and underlying beliefs if I put up the following post, devoid of any further explanation?
“Anyone else find it interesting that homosexuals have a higher rate of STD infection than heterosexuals?”
I don’t give a rats arse where you put your willy, and I don’t fear homosexuals in the least. I also don’t ascribe any political beliefs or personal attributes to you, becuase you are homosexual. Its just that I find that post (and other by you, which I have commented on and yu have never responded to) to be pretty senseless.
I also find it VERY hippocritical of you to ascribe the violence inflicted by blacks on others as a attribute belonging to that race (for want of a better word), while at the same time bleating on that “oh, just because I am gay, don’t attribute me with any of you stereotypes! It just means I like men”.
Can you not extend you open-mindedness” to others???
As for phreedumb labelling me a bigot….giggle.
Alex,
Also, I think that we both know there exists just one highy specific genetic marker for violent behaviour…it’s called the Y chromosome.
So your phsycic properties are very accurate…it was a MAN!!!
So, tell me again, why do you love men, rather than hate them??
KA
Don’t forget to add the French to your list of those I “hate”. Those smelly cheese eating surrender monkeys can suck it. (Actually I don’t hate any particular groups of people, just a few individuals.)
I used to own a copy of the “The Bell Curve” but found it a little bit boring to get through with all of it’s graphs and footnotes and I think I gave it away to the local library. I have never read “The Protocols” and never really would be interested in reading it. I have devoured everything written by Norman Finkelstein and Alan Dershowitz though because I like to read all sides to an issue.
I never claimed to have it ALL figured out but I do think that I have a lot more of the world figured out than the average person does thanks to my life experiences, education, and nonstop reading.
As far as thinking that Durham is the whole world, I would like to remind you that I actually live in Chapel Hill which is about eight miles from Durham and that the USA is the third country on the third continent where I have lived. I’m curious about how much of the world you have experienced?
canada1989, you?re the one who needs a fact checker. The Random House Dictionary notes that: “The term Canuck is first recorded about 1835 as an Americanism, originally referring specifically to a French Canadian. This was probably the original meaning, though in Canada and other countries, “Canuck” refers to any Canadian.”
Also, would you please stop beating the atheism is a belief horse? It`s turned into glue now. I have a non-belief in gods just as you have a non belief in unicorns. (sorry if that`s only an assumption)
There is no word for unicorn deniers because no reasonable person would claim knowledge of their existence. The word atheist is only necessary because of surviving Bronze Age myths.
There is a difference between knowledge and beliefs. I do not “believe” there is no god. I know there is no god because there never was any proof. Just like there is no proof for unicorns. Belief is only necessary when there is a complete absence of even a shred of proof.
Should a single proof come along, I?ll jump right in the flock.
So… how`s the weather in Alberta? ;p

I disagree. PP is available to all women in the rainbow; they do not turn away. Of course it does take initiative to utilize their services. I mean, you actually have to walk through the front door, usually following a short jaunt in the car or on the bus.
PP is in nearly every town, but walking past the door does nothing.
I would suggest you check the validity of this statement by going here:
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/FindCenterProcess.,asp
and looking up the locations yourself.
There is one PP clinic in Mississippi.
There are two clinic in South Dakota.
There are no clinics in North Dakota.
That sounds to me like a whole bunch of people who would have a heck of a long bus ride to get to the nearest PP clinic. So I would have to disagree with your assertion that PP is in nearly every town. In fact, one of the initiatives of the religiously insane is to target and shut down clinics in order to hinder people’s ability to access them. It not only takes initiative; in large swaths of the country it takes considerable resources as well.
Having to do a ‘perp walk’ through a bunch of cultists at the end of the journey just to get into the clinic and talk to the counselors there doesn’t sound like the easiest thing in the world to do, either.
tom, my comment came from my own experience. I’ve lived in 20+ towns in PA, ID, CA, and FL, and there was always a PP available to me; no protestors ever hampered my entrance. Abortion clinics were different (I had one after an attack). Those idiots hand’t a shred of impact on my decision. In fact I would’ve gunned them down of it was legal (OK Just kidding).
Perhaps things have changed since I got my tubes tied. Still, if a woman wants to prevent pregnancy, there are other options (what the hell else could doctors be good for?). The methods are out there, but they must be used to be effective.
Of course, the pursuit of a higher welfare check could muddle the decision to obtain birth control.
hand’t = had not

Anyone with the ability to read between the lines can see the entire purpose is to denounce any program that takes funding from PP.
But, since you have such a high command of the English language, why don’t you tell us all why PP was even brought into the discussion about the study…?

Wow…what an extremely limited way to view life…
canada1989,
Please explain why you think this makes any sense.
It appears that you’re saying that atheists have set their lives up around the idea that nobody believes in a deity. In other words, you think that we think that the entire world is lying when they say God exists.
That is, in a word, ridiculous.
Atheism is the default position until someone provides evidence for the existence of a deity. If you have no evidence then all your criticisms of atheism will continue to fall flat.
The generic atheist does not believe no God exists. The generic atheist believes that the question “Does God exist?” is nonsense until someone defines “God” and “Exist.” If you want to provide definitions of those words, then we can start to debate the existence of your personal idea of God (which you share with nobody else on the planet).
There are atheists who believe that no God exists, but they make up a subset of the generic group of atheists. If you want to attack atheism in general, you have to attack the generic atheist.
You may not like his grammar, but unambiguous usage of words is more important than grammar. Since you used variations of the word “belief” 3 times in 1 sentence (using 2 very different definitions) you shouldn’t go around admonishing people for not communicating properly.
You’ve fallen victim to the equivocation fallacy. I suggest you avoid that in the future:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equivocation
No, what you have done is given up your free will by blindly walking a well-worn path. Down this path you can expect to have both your ability to disagree and your ability to make moral judgments tempered. You will also be easily led by corrupt religious leaders.
That you seem proud of this fact leaves little doubt as to just how blind you are to ideas you disagree with. That you have shown a severe misunderstanding of atheism is evidence of how deeply you’ve been misled by your religious leaders.
Further, if the “truth” you speak of cannot be proven then you have no business calling it that. Can you prove your claims?
One last thing, would you please put some paragraph breaks in your posts?

Anyone with the ability to read between the lines can see the entire purpose is to denounce any program that takes funding from PP.
Anyone who has had the experience of wading through your tendentious dreck whenever you comment here is very well aware of how your twisted occult sociopathic mind would ‘read between the lines’ to turn any statements made here into hypocritical lies to further your religiously insane agenda.
The fact that, once again, you provide absolutely no proof of your fantastical claims, while seeking to scourge others based on straw men of your own creation, says volumes more about you, and religiously insane idiots like you who twist religion into an abomination of itself to further your own enrichment. A growing number of people are rapidly realizing just how much you hurt the causes you say you promote by your bearing of false witness on their behalf.
Suck it, jeebus phreak!
Phreedm:
ok, I forget sometimes that I have to be specific or else you run away with things.
when I said that unwanted pregnancies and STD’s are the only reason to avoid premarital sex, I meant that:
STD’s and unwanted pregnancies are the only consequences of sex that have nothing to do with a person’s personal maturity and psychological capability to deal with an adult relationship.
If a person isn’t ready for sex, then that person shouldn’t have sex. STD’s and unwanted pregnancies, however, have nothing to do with whether or not a person is ready for sex. they are, therefore, the only universally applicable reasons to avoid sex before marriage
and of course I should add that I’m only talking about consequences that can be observed and verified in this world.
alatham;
Very nice job!!
alexatheist, twice I have tried to post on the comments of a certain critic of yours, one who talks about phallocymaster. But for some strange reason, the posts never appear. In your own interest, never respond to this guy.
