I always delight in reading the scholarship contestants’ essays in American Atheist and in Freethought Today– the newspaper of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. (I belong to both: more of a good thing.) I’m delighted that we’re not in competition as one Christian troll once accused us of being.

Sometimes its easiest to make points using icons of pop culture, like the Simpsons, in order to relay my point clearly to people who really dont care to see the point. ie ….atheists. The soul is our entire being outside of the mental and physical material world. Even many scientists and pshycologists understand there is more to a being than just what is physical and what is mental. We act on behaviours that have absolutely nothing to do with what we think and see. The soul encompasses our morality and who we are deep down as beings underneath all the fluff and fragility of humanity.

I was a xian, and then I had a soul, right? That was when I was too young to understand yet that all that bibble dribble just might be flawed.
So then I began to wonder, question and examine? I wasn’t an atheist yet, not even an agnostic. Did I have a soul then?
And now, with no PROOF of anything beyond a bunch of xians parroting the same old crap, I’m an atheist. But now I don’t have that soul thing you speak of, right?
Where’d it go? Oh, bet that guy with the horns and forked tail got it! Well, that’s just not fair. It was my soul, dammit! What did he do with it? Where does he keep it? Does he have an entire vault where he stores these stolen souls? Maybe he just burns them up? I’ve heard he has fire down there. That sounds like fun. I asked because this is a very proof on demand environment. And the proof will be put to a thick analysis often. So some terms will have to be very well defined. Otherwise the discourse is considered “Preaching” and will probably go nowhere. oh,well.

If you have children, you are a lifelong teacher. Your children study you for cues, even when you don’t realize it. You teach your children with every one of your actions.
Although I understand your meaning to be that you do not make your living teaching, you are in fact a teacher. IMHO
One learns in the study of education that the first thing any good teacher should do is to call their students prostitutes and tell them they will burn in hell forever. The christians here have very good teaching techniques. We atheists can learn a lot from them. I can only hope one day to be so skilled in the art of teaching.
