ONN On the March

Many of us really like ONN, the Onion News Network. But now we have to contend with another ONN, the OneNewsNow.com of the American Family Association. What is really troubling is that I am pretty sure they are both sarcastic in nature. I mean look at the AFA’s ONN, it has an article stating that the president of the American Life League accuses Democrats of using religion for political gains. Clinton and Obama are insincere when they state they are good Christians because they support contraceptive and pregnancy termination rights for all women. Judie Brown does not mention the hypocrisy of Republicans claiming to be Christians for political gain when they support killing innocent children in Iraq in order to provide gas for her SUV. I’d have to say I don’t know which one is really the more sarcastic site. What do you think?Peter Nuhn

People still think Iraq was for oil? lolwut?

  2. Celebrant Prince says:

Which one’s more sarcastic? I’ll likely never know, as I could never bring myself to read OneNewsNow. However, I’m pretty sure which one is more obscene; any website or organization which values fetuses over actual living children is an obsenity by definition.

  3. what says:

OneNewsNow has an entire section of their publication devoted to persecution. I guess it’s HowTo section.

  4. quantum_flux says:

  6. Rons95Stang says:

if Iraq was not about oil then what was it about?

  7. tarma says:

Iraq is and was about oil.

  8. alatham says:

I’ll third that, what was Iraq about if it wasn’t oil?

  14. alexatheist says:

Israeli security was a big reason for the war too.

  15. alexatheist says:

…that is the need to defend israel against the threat posed by Iraq

…like shrub (god told me to do it) and the brainwashed majority of our country.

What a great example of BEING brainwashed…

Say Tarma…do some research. Bush never said that…but if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes truth…

  17. phreedm says:

And now to a much more urgent matter…

At least one of your prophets understands where the real threat to the world is coming from…

Christopher Hitchens — the author of God is not Great — is an anomaly: Unlike most secularists, he is deeply alarmed by the rise of Islam. While Hitchens tries to sound a warning trumpet, most of his fellow secularists are either oblivious to or even sympathetic to that against which he warns.

  18. what says:

Once again Phreeky weighs in with utter nonsense. What makes this fool post things like this here? Does he really think anybody here supports violent religious extremists of any stripe? The dude is … Phreeky!

  19. what says:

In the programme Elusive Peace: Israel and the Arabs, which starts on Monday, the former Palestinian foreign minister Nabil Shaath says Mr Bush told him and Mahmoud Abbas, former prime minister and now Palestinian President: “I’m driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, ‘George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.’ And I did, and then God would tell me, ‘George go and end the tyranny in Iraq,’ and I did.”

  20. what says:

… and gawd told BushCo to destroy America.

  21. KnowledgeIsPower says:

It is this alleged desire on the part of Christians to take over that makes Hitchens deem Christianity to be nearly as great a threat as is Islam. Hitchens is half right. He is right about Islam but wrong about Christianity.

    From your link phreedm.

    Anybody want to comment?

  22. fathead says:

…and phreedm is wrong about almost everything.

  23. alexatheist says:

    phreedum,
Like many atheists I am very concerned about the rise of islam, especially in my native Europe. What ever made you think that we weren’t?

  24. Horus says:

The hell are you people talking about? We went into Iraq because intelligence officials told us they had WMD’s. If we wanted oil so bad we could have just invaded Venezuela.

  25. KnowledgeIsPower says:

    Two words: plausible deniability.

  30. Barbiebrains says:

    Phreedm,
The rise of irrational thought, wacko superstitions that impinge on individual liberties and privacy (Burkas or Crosses)OUGHT to be a matter of grave concern for anyone in their RIGHT mind…Islam is a violent problem. Period.
Hitchens is not a prophet. He is a mortal who is not in denial about his mortality. James Dobson, on the other hand, REPEATEDLY calls himself a PROPHET who wants TO TAKE AS MANY PEOPLE as he can when he goes to, ahem, heaven…Listen to his radio show and just count the number of times Dobson compares himself to a PROPHET of OLD….This Christer is mega-revolting…and twisted…and delusional…and creepy…and balding…and has watched more hardcore porn VHS tapes than I (he was on the porn commission under Saint Reagan)…and EXTREMELY wealthy…and a misogynistic…homophobic…angry white guy with a butt-ugly wife who runs the National Day of Prayer…Shirley…and a divorced/remarried son (Ryan)…and a 45-year-old virginal daughter (Danae) who writes malt-shop books for teenage girls on “sexuality” while Daddy-Dobson still clings to her sacred hymen…such is the life of Prophets… LMAO!!!!! LMAO!!!!

  31. Rusty Shackleford says:

    That would rule, Agnosticat.

You ever listen to them on the radio? Wildmon the Elder sounds like a complete loon.

  36. karen says:

So, James Dobson says under no circumstances can he support John McCain. Yet McCain is gaining momentum by the day. Wonder what Dobson’s gonna do if after super Tuesday, McCain is still showing as the front-runner? And if McCain ends up being the GOP nominee, what’s Dobson going to do then? Vote for Clinton/Obama (whomever gets the nod) on the Dem side? I hardly think so.

  37. tarma says:

Say Tarma…do some research. Bush never said that…but if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes truth…

Yes, indeed…the jesus lie has been repeated often enough…and weak-minded…and fearful…xians believe it to be…the…truth………..

  38. tarma says:

What, thanks much for responding to the troll earlier and providing the info about shrub and his little “talks” with god.

  39. what says:

Yes, indeed…the jesus lie has been repeated often enough…and weak-minded…and fearful…xians believe it to be…the…truth………..

Phreeky fears life more than he fears death just like his fearless leader BushCo.

    Horus

We went into Iraq because intelligence officials told us they had WMD’s.

    You are one dumb-ass kid!

  40. what says:

    Tarma

What, thanks much for responding to the troll earlier and providing the info about shrub and his little “talks” with god.

Oh Phreeky does all the hard work. He labors long in setting up his house of cards only to have it toppled by the faintest of breaths.

Sometimes I really hurt for Phreeky and those like him. What pain there must be in those poor minds. They try so hard to shut out the only world they know to exist and instead embrace the salve of fantasy.

  41. what says:

    Horus

If you were being sarcastic, well then, my bad.

  42. what says:

Great Dobson rant! I wonder if I could get some help from the women here. Why are conservative xian women so prone to over-doing-it with cosmetics? Any hypotheses?

  43. Tim Ren says:

    Phreedm,
    Try again, dumbass.

God told me to invade Iraq, Bush tells Palestinian ministers

    http://tinyurl.com/b5tkd

    Horus,
It’s not about “getting” oil; it is about securing access to said oil for decades in the future. What with permanant bases in Iraq and John McCain saying we might stay, “100 yrs”, and all.

  44. cry4turtles says:

What, because only fugly women are drawn to gawd. The rest of us can find companionship with real-life men :)

  45. Horus says:

    What,

Not being sarcastic. This bullshit theory that we went into Iraq because of the baby Jesus and oil is retarded. While many of you may feel George Bush is some kind of low-functioning retard because of his poor speaking ability, it is absurd to believe that an American president would knowingly put lives in jeopardy for such pointless reasons.

Perhaps Bush did factor in the fact that they were Muslims when attacking; but ultimately I think he had visions of a nuclear 9/11 swimming around in his head.

If Muslims did this kind of horrible and unprovoked attack on civilians before, what is to say they wouldn’t do it again with more deadly weapons?

  46. Tim Ren says:

    Horus,
If Bush had visions of Muslims attacking, swimming around in his head, we should have invaded Saudi Arabia, a country where most of the foreign fighters are still coming from, not Iraq.

Saddam may well have been a brutal dictator, but he wasn’t interested in attacking America, nor in establishing a 14th century caliphate in that part of the world. Saddam and Usama were ideological enemies, and our intellignence apparatus knew it well before we invaded. Hell, even the Bush administration has come out and stated that WMD was nothing more than a rallying cry to gather support for a war that was a forgone conclusion before 9-11.

  47. rna2dna says:

    Horus,

All you baby jesus freaks know full well that the shrub started war in Afghanistan as retaliation for 9-11, that was the command center for those that committed that crime. However, instead of completing the act, The Shrub prematurely invaded Iraq, for the baby jesus told him so. As baby jesus lacked the ability to return to Earth unless there was a major war between the families of baby jesus based religions within the land that held the remains of holy shit.

Now, as baby jesus has been a no-show, it is necessary for the christians to deny the religious connection, for if they don’t they won’t be able to start another war in order to bring the lacking baby back to Earth.

Personally, I think this baby jesus is too scared to return to Earth, it is afraid its brother-sons and sister-daughters will nail the little bastard to another mormonized christian death cross so they can watch it die again.

  48. what says:

    Horus

    Not being sarcastic.

OK then, Horus, that makes you an idiot. Why are you in search of THE ONE reason? The reasons for BushCo lying its way into an invasion of Iraq are numerous and in the end the purpose was to prop up a duplicitous BushCo administration.

How old are you? I’m wondering if you were older than twelve in 2003.
