Now Let Us Pray

I just discovered another wacko Christian group – the Hollywood Prayer Network. :yawn:prayNow go out an buy a prayer sticker and pray for a Hollywood mogul or star and all the world’s problems will be resolved. All you have to do is pull out your VISA card and Jesus will love you. I really wish life was as simple as the simpleton Christians make it out to be.Let us wish them all the luck in the world with their prayers for “Reaper” and “Ghost Whisperer”. I know I’ll be praying for the Faux News Network to get a clue.Peter Nuhn

Isn’t prayer just a poor lazy sap’s pathetic attempt to help make improvement….leaving only selfish gratification in its useless wake….

OT: Satanic Symbols Painted In Church

Vandals spray-painted satanic and anti-religious symbols inside a Lancaster County church and set fire to a hymnal some time Tuesday night, a church member said.

The church’s sanctuary is spray-painted with an upside-down cross, the words “Satan” and “God is dead,” and a hymnal on the floor next to the pulpit is charred.

Anti-religios? I think they meant pro-satanic. Anti-religious would be more like “there is no god”. I bet this is going to be blamed on atheists…..

The key to success is in their logo. It has the word “pray” on it so it will make some money.

  8. Apple_Christmas says:

This reminds me of this group:

    http://greaterbostonhealingrooms.com/

It’s a group of people that pray for you if you ask them to, and they claim they can relieve your pain and cure your illnesses.

There’s an ad in the Porter Square T station (the subway) with a happy, smiling man and the quote, “I had persistent jaw pain, but after visting the Greater Boston Healing Rooms, I can smile again!”

I can’t believe people fall for this stuff.

Hey, if anybody wants me to say some magic words and make a wish for you I can give you my paypal info so you can transfer me some money.

  10. deak says:

    dawn,

Would you ask sky daddy to make me a lottery winner. I haven’t bought a lottery ticket but surely the power of prayer will overcome that shortcoming.

  11. dawnisis says:

No problem deak! Simply forward me a mere $50 and all you dreams will come true :-)

  12. pha says:

I don’t get it. Pray for what show? What does the network refer to? The prayer network or a tv network? Is it a network or just a single show? And why is it remote prayer? I thought you could pray from anywhere all the time.

This is why I’m an atheist. Too many questions. If I was an idiot I would be on my knees straight away praying without ever figuring out what this is.

    some serious food for thought.

Some of you may be wondering what Judge Roy Moore has been doing since he was removed from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall. Please read the poem he wrote. It’s below his picture.

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama. Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama! The judge’s poem sums it up quite well.

    America the beautiful,
or so you used to be.
    Land of the Pilgrims’ pride;
    I’m glad they’ll never see.

    Babies piled in dumpsters,
    Abortion on demand,
    Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.

    Our children wander aimlessly
    poisoned by cocaine
    choosing to indulge their lusts,
    when God has said abstain

    From sea to shining sea,
    our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God’s love
and a need to always pray.

We’ve kept God in our temples,
    how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
    and Heaven is His throne.

    We’ve voted in a government
    that’s rotting at the core,
    Appointing Godless Judges;
who throw reason out the door,

Too soft to place a killer
    in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
    before he leaves the womb.

You think that God’s not angry,
that our land’s a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
    before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God,
    from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
    but stem this evil tide?

If we who are His children,
    will humbly turn and pray;
    Seek His holy face
    and mend our evil way:

    Then God will hear from Heaven;
and forgive us of our sins,
    He’ll heal our sickly land
    and those who live within.

    But, America the Beautiful,
If you don’t – then you will see,
    A sad but Holy God
    withdraw His hand from Thee.

    ~~Judge Roy Moore~~

This says it all. May we all forward this message and offer our prayers for Judge Moore to be blessed and for America to wake up and realize what we need to do to keep OUR America the Beautiful.
Pass this on and let’s lift Judge Moore up in Prayer.
He has stood firm and needs our support.
    IN GOD WE TRUST!

  16. what says:

    Christ is in the way

Are you sure a grown man wrote that “poetry”? My seven year old can write circles around Judge Roy Bean.

  17. dawnisis says:

That is one of the worst poems I have ever read. That idiot was a judge?

I don’t think a man that crazy, yearning for the apocalypse and obsessed with embryos should be judging me for anything.

I’m being serious here what a whack job. Maybe he has alzheimers.

  18. bernarda says:

Who is going to pray for Tom Cruise’s next movie?

As the writer I mentioned in another thread said, under Bush, the expression is no longer “In God We Trust”, but “God Help Us”.

  19. Boise Jim says:

    CITW-
    In God YOU Trust.
Me, no thanks. I’d rather trust my ability to get off my ass and actually do something productive, instead of relying on some invisible man in the sky who refuses to show himself.

BTW, which god are you talking about, seeing as there are hundreds, if not thousands, sprinkled around the world?

Just read over on SSA that Myspace.com is deleting atheists from their site. Also they are being hacked and all their assets are being erased. Now we see are seeing the same $hit here.

  21. dawnisis says:

Thx for posting that info Peter I had no idea.

Here’s a link for everyone to read the story:

    http://www.secularstudents.org/node/1933

Hey AA can we not file a lawsuit?

I hate myspace so I don’t even have a profile, but I hope all the atheists here that use that site will delete their profiles and send myspace an email.

Facebook is similar to myspace so give them your business instead.

  22. Obeah says:

“…we need to do to keep OUR America the Beautiful.”

What does ‘OUR’ mean in this context? It looks as though it means CHRISTIAN America.

  23. pha says:

I’ve written a poem too. It took me about five minutes because rhyming is so hard. Take THAT (former) judge Ray Moore!

    America the beautiful
    The country that is free
    Founded on the people?s dream
    Who hated monarchy

    Founding fathers led the way
    Through dark and stormy nights
And when the weather cleared a bit
They wrote the bill of rights

    Tired of the constant war
    Rules, they did teach
    Freedom from religious thought
    And unrestricted speech

    Theocracy was feared the most
    And so they did create
A separate system free and fair
    Divide the church and state

Judge Moore he was truly wrong
    And justice he did see
We have the right to disbelieve
    I?m sure you will agree

Please support pha and pass this poem on to your friends. He has fought a tough battle against bad poetry and needs your help. Keep America free!

  24. Rons95Stang says:

here one for you why dont (they) just pray for us atheists to go away?!?!?!?

  25. Rons95Stang says:

also why do (they) feel the need to come to our web site?

  26. alatham says:

    Rons05Stang,

It’s a public forum, theists are welcome here.

I like being able to point out to them that their arguments don’t hold water once they’re actually challenged.
