A bit off topic here, but I have some thoughts on something What needed from some days previous.

Mission: find a suitable retort to ?gawd bless?. You want to capture and expose the essence of xianity with a short phrase.
From my experience, the essence of such gawd-touched people is arrogance. I am arrogant so I can recognize it in others. However, my arrogance pales in comparison to the gawd touched. Why is mine so inferior to theirs? What is their secret?
Then it occurs to me: They claim to be made in gawd?s image with dominion over all other creatures. Wow. I don?t have any of that. No wonder they are arrogant.
But what does that mean?Clearly, gawd has no physical definition so it could not actual create anything in it?s own form. It appears to be a contradiction. But wait. The bibble doesn?t contain contradictions, it contains ?metaphors?. (thanks JustME. That is excellent insight.) Ah. This is a metaphor. If gawd didn?t actually make xians in it?s image what does it mean? I know. Gawd did not make xians, it made xianity: therefore xian beliefs are gawdlike. So what, you ask is gawdlike. Well, gawd cannot be defined by what it is; rather it must be defined by what it is not. Gawd cannot be measured so has no substance or form. Therefore, xian beliefs have no substance or form. So when they say they have dominion over other creatures, they must mean their value system is superior over non-gawdlike value system (creatures).
Brilliant? No wonder they are so arrogant. They can make up anything they want without regard to structure or form and be completely consistent within their own values. Those of us with pedestrian values are constrained by substance. It is no wonder we cannot use our puny laws of logic to convince them. They truly are gawdlike.

Gawd Bless You.

Your Hubris Abounds.
Yikes...what a rant. Four paragraphs and you've said absolutely nothing...

Kind of reminds me of listening to a speech by Obama...

Back on track...I hope the special explains how MO was able to squirrel away so much money...
Phreedm,

Over and over again I hear you ranting in this blog about the VAST sums of money that you seem to believe some atheist organizations (or their leaders) have been able to gather from those of like mind in order to further their stated goals and objectives.

I suspect that the paltry sums involved in these atheist organizations pale in comparison (like a gnat to an elephant) to the immense funds at the disposal of the religious right. So what is really bugging you so much in this area?

Are you worried that a little money (and very little at that) might give us some clout with politicians, legislators, and the media, or are you just trying to generally undermine the confidence of some atheists in their own organizations?

I would suggest that someone as obviously religious as you might serve your cause better by focusing on how your own organizations are using the money they have fleeced from their flock.

Phreedm...

How much do you think the gigantic bronze "Praying Hands" statue cost Oral Roberts?

"The large praying hands at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., are pictured Friday, Oct. 5, 2007.
The president of Oral Roberts University, Richard Roberts facing accusations he misspent school funds
to support a lavish lifestyle, resigned on Friday Nov. 23, 2007, officials said."

Check out the ugly-ass statue, "Praying Hands"...Like two giant mealworms of love...LOL, LOL, LOL, and so on...
//Mission: find a suitable retort to ?gawd bless?.//

- When you sneeze, sneeze really loud and on people, and maybe with a little shnozz in it too .... That usually prevents them from saying "gawd bless you" in the first place. Although, a bad side effect of this is that you get more of a "go to hell" remark when that happens. .... if there are more than 1 person, then try to spin your head 360 when sneezing so as to get everyone in the room.

- Or just say "I was trying to cause another Hurricane Katrina using the butterfly effect. If there ever is another hurricane in the world, then gawd did not bless that sneeze and therefore you're an idiot for believing in sneeze-blessings."
