Sorry, but Sam Harris should stick to scientific proofs for the non-existance of God. Maybe it’s just the rhetoric that I’ve been given at a Lutheran School for 10 years of my life, all of the students probably asked every question that atheists naturally use to refute god, and then the teacher pressured the students into not being skeptical about the proposterous things in the bible by appealing to authority or by appealing to threats of eternal damnation if you didn’t believe. For some of the weak minded, they even played the “jesus loves you and that’s why it’s true” card.

OK...let's say God doesn't exist...fine.

Why does a little girl get raped by a family member?

What was the world doing while the elderly people drowned in their attics?

It's easy to wonder why a loving God would allow these things to happen. Why does a loving world allow these things to happen?

How does an atheist explain why these tragedies occur?

And as for the God cam...last night there was an accident in the upper midwest where 100 cars couldn't see anything in the fog...they too believed there was nothing there because their "eyes" couldn't see...

But what in your metaphor does "eyes" refer to? You must mean faith, right? That's the only faculty that you can say we lack, yet it is when you let faith cloud your sense of reason that you become blind.
