http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8x14cLGh5oWhile I know, in the back of my mind, she was coached and most likely told exactly what to say and how to say it, I also remember that I had my first thoughts of Atheism at 6, as did my daughter. She means it, and she’s awesome.Enjoy

GF&G
The child was born an atheist so I don’t understand how she could be considered indoctrinated as.
Oh, dawnisis, you’re getting a cyber-”tsk, tsk”. While it may be fun for you and I to exchange itsults with jcc, it doesn’t encourage rational discourse. Neither does pointing fingers. It doesn’t matter who started, only who stops.
I’m not asking you to stop. I rather enjoy reading them, but don’t particularly see the point in writing them.
It places a restriction on cognition. I have no problem with a child entertaining the idea of an imaginary God-father, but he/she should be able to immediately dismiss such in-substantial thoughts as the fantasy they are.
Without being told he/she is going to a place of eternal torment for actually thinking.
What,
Agree we are all born atheists, that is, individuals with no leaning toward any belief on any subject at birth. Unfortunately, at some point most of us will learn of religion. Far too many of us will be indoctrinated at an early age with religious ideas and all the rediculous fantasy that goes along with it. But regardless of whether we are spoon-fed religion or not, deciding for one’s self whether or not to buy into religious dogma is something we all will do one way or the other. Unfortunately, early indoctrination of religion makes this very difficult for many people.
We did not expose our own child to religion but when she wanted to attend classes held in a trailer on the school grounds during her lunch hour (I can’t believe that happened then but it did) we did not object. We weren’t crazy about the idea, but didn’t tell her what she should believe. She was about 10 at the time and all we said was that she should think for herself and that lots of people had a lot of different ideas about Jesus, etc. and what she would hear was somebody’s idea, but not the only one and that some people didn’t believe at all. She asked what we believed and we told her we didn’t believe, that we were atheists but felt it was better not to advertise that fact since it wasn’t a popular thing to be an atheist. This was nearly 40 years ago. She went a few times and dropped out saying the whole idea was “too silly, like magic or something.” I won’t say I didn’t breathe a sign of relief.
That’s what I meant about not indoctrinating a child with either a belief for or against religion. Truth will out if it’s given a chance.
Oops –
Should have said, “I won’t say I didn’t breathe a sigh of relief.” (not sign)
It would be logical to assume that the child knows she is acting. Does anyone know of any movies that children act in where the content isn’t something that the child should believe literally? You can express an opinion regarding if it is appropriate for a child to engage in acting but, from viewing the result of her acting it isn’t the same as knowing what she believes and why she believes it.
Contrast that with what the christians are doing. They are repeatedly exposing children to fantasy as fact, and shaming and punishing the children if they express doubt. Along with the use of fear to scare the children into believing.
If you are against using children as actors in any film fine but, don’t lay the blame on the anti-christian message that is only a part of this clip that is intended as a promotion for a band.
GFG
I applaud your parenting wisdom but you did not answer my question. How can it be considered indoctrination if one is born an athiest?
Sorry, but her acting was terrible in that video! Her punishment is that she has to go to church and mindlessly stand up and yell “Heil Hitler” in the middle of the sermon!

A better question to ask a presidential candidate than “do you believe in creationism” is whether they believe in “destructionism”.
Do they believe Genesis and Revelation, and possibly all of the crap in between too? I posit that almost all of the US presidential candidates on the right side do in fact beleive in the “science of destructionism” as well as in the “science of creationism.”
This article is not that far off in talking about doomsday being brought on for the faithfully believing christian right. There is, indeed, the same amount of concern for the US today as there was for NAZI Germany in 1930.
Dawnisis,
Those are some really scary and pathetic videos. When the preacher was carrying on about sin , I thought she was going into a “Anti drug thing ,but no , Harry Potter? Warlocks? I predict the blonde kid in the end will be an Atheist.
I really hope someone saves all this Jesus camp footage and shows it to some of these kids again in 6 years and document what they think about it all .
septos,
I bring up the xian belief in magic and warlocks all the time.
The lady said “If harry potter was alive in biblical times he would have been stoned to death for being a warlock”.
Translation: We xians executed innocent people all the time.
I can assure all you xians magic is not real if it were I’d be a sorceress instead of working a day job
I’d be happy just turning water into wine. Whoops ,there goes the tidal basin.
What is so horrible about the Harry Potter rant is that they are such great books and kids just love them.
Do xians really believe their children will grow up and become warlocks? LMAO
Did the xians wet their pants over “The Hobbit” as well and the billion other fantasy stories? This just makes them look insane.
Anti-science, anti-art AND anti-literature.
An xian utopia would just consist of people sitting perfectly still and not thinking at all.
In this utopia occasionally a woman would be allowed to stand, covered from head to toe of course, to give birth.
She would only be impregnated by throwing sperm at her because the sex act is so dirty and sinful.
All children would be immediately gagged so their parents wouldn’t have to stone them to death for disrespecting or questioning.
I suggest that if magic were real, being a warlock would be a day job.
If it were real we’d all be posting at getrichquicksorceryspells.com
What’s so funny is it is the xians who believe that by reciting words in a certain way a magical being will grant their wishes.
I.E. A magic spell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love an xian to address the repeated belief in witches, warlocks and sorcerers mentioned in the bible.
Do you believe they exist (or ever have)?
How would one be granted such power? Via the “Devil”?
Wouldn’t such a belief that the devil gives his followers such powers and aid run counter to a belief that the devil tortures people for eternity after death? Why would he? Why wouldn’t he grant them even more power after death?
I would love some honesty regarding this devil belief? If I “pray” to the devil right now do you think I would be given superpowers? If not what are the requirements?
Why wouldn’t the devil appear to us atheists? Do you think it is our non-belief in him that prevents it? Would that mean the devil can only act through xians since they are the only ones who believe in him?
If “god” refuses to let non-believers into heaven wouldn’t the devil refuse them as well?
LOL
If I wasn’t at work, that comment would garner a top one hundred laugh of all time. Where’s the Satan Support Center? I want to log a complaint…
If heaven and hell decide
they both are satisfied
illuminate the ‘no’
on their vacancy signs
If there’s no-one beside you
when your soul embarks
then I’ll follow you into the dark
If heaven and hell decide
they both are satisfied
illuminate the ‘no’
on their vacancy signs
If there’s no-one beside you
when your soul imbarks
then I’ll follow you into the dark
I have wondered ,If someone was fired for being a satanist ,could they get adequate legal representation ,with freedom of religion and all?
I dont see what the big deal is about turning water into wine. I mean, every weekend I go to ‘The Merry Barmaid’ and turn gallons of wine into water. How hard can the reverse be?
