Off the top of my head:

1) Your misspelling of "complement" reminds me of something that definitely bothers me about the American Atheist Magazine. Every time I read it, I find numerous embarrassing typos. Isn't there someone in the organization who can proofread? The publication would be much more creditable if it was more professionally produced.

2) The American Atheist website doesn't seem to be updated often. The newest item in "What's New in the Main Section" is dated July 2007, and the previous is June 2006. The latest "Flashline" item is Nov. 2006!!

3) The Google ads on this blog are a major pain.

4) The way the trolls take over every topic on this blog is a major pain. Could we have a troll-free area, please? Pretty please??

5) I think two of atheism's greatest problems are lack of visibility and poor public relations. We need a widespread, positive advertising campaign! We need to let people know how many of us are out there - and I'll bet lots more would "come out" if they knew how many of their neighbors are atheists/freethinkers.

6) I love this blog!

The troll free area suggested by Tarma would top my list. I have become skilled at ignoring the xian posts but I'd still like the ability to completely filter them out.

The addition of an edit function to this blog would also be useful so a second post would not be required to correct typos.
Tarma, regarding your last sentence in point #1, I think you meant credible not creditable.

As far as #4 is concerned, I'm afraid this is easier said than done.

Dave, I'd love it if you started using tinyurl.com to create short versions of the sometimes long URLs you insert in posts here.

I also very much like the outspoken style you display when posting about this or that bit of religious stupidity that has annoyed you. It comes across as genuine, heartfelt, and usually quite clever.

Mostly, Dave, I hope you'll keep up the good work.

Happy New Year to all, and for 2008 let's all imagine a world without hate.

I dunno about the editing ability. A lot of discussions on here dwell on arguing against what one party stated. If each party has the ability to edit their own previous entries, they can make this exchange pretty pointless by changing old posts to remove or alter holes in their argument.

I agree that it would be good to be able to fix typos, but unfortunately it's not possible to limit it to such changes (I think).

I think we should elect atheist political leaders. Although this is a difficult goal in the short term, we could start by carefully identifying candidates on a sliding scale, and support the most secular candidates we can.

If we combine this with an ad campaign and positive message we can gradually expand the number of people that prefer secular leadership.

Note that almost every religious group actively seeks new members and they support like minded candidates. We need to do the same.
