Yes, it’s too late. Perhaps someone could post the Youtube address? At any rate, Huckabee is clearly placing crosses in his political ads. Does he even care about the Constitution anymore?
KAGIN ON FOX-CAVUTO TODAY (Monday, Dec.24)SHOULD HUCKABEE APOLOGIZE FOR CHRISTIAN POLITICAL AD? EDWIN KAGIN, National Legal Director for American Atheists will be the guest this afternoon (Monday, December 24, 2007) on Fox News with Neil Cavuto. The topic is presidential candidate Mike Huckabee’s recent controversial Christian ad. Should Huckabee apologize for mixing his personal Christian faith as he seeks our secular republic’s highest elected office? Tune-in! WHO & WHAT: Edwin Kagin, National Legal Director for American Atheists on the Huckabee Christian political ad. WHEN: Today, Monday Dec. 24, 2007 at 4:15 PM ET — check local listings! WHERE: Fox News with host Neil Cavuto MORE INFO: http://www.foxnews.com ; “Huckabee’s Co-Pilot,” Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/23/AR2007122302071.html (AMERICAN ATHEISTS is a nationwide movement that defends civil rights for Atheists, Freethinkers and other nonbelievers; works for the total separation of church and state; and addresses issues of First Amendment public policy.)

Did anyone hear about Huckleberry’s misquoting of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War?
He said in a Foreign Affairs article:
“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”
Actually it was Michael Corleone from the godfather who said that.
Great. Just what we need. Another religious nut with no foreign policy experience that can’t read. Didn’t we already try this?
Could you clarify this statement? Doesn’t a presidential candidate have a right to place whatever religious symbolism into his ads that he wishes? Just as as voters have every right to reject him on the basis of his advertised religion? How is this unconstitutional? Perhaps I’m missing your point.
Alex…I agree with your assesment.
There is absolutely nothing unconstitutional about his ads. Poor taste? Maybe.. But AA is simply trying to create a crisis so that they can ride in as the white night to save the day…for one’s dues of course…
I wonder what other “constitutional” rights one loses when they run for political office…
Just one more glaring example of twisting the first amendment to promote the myth…
Actually, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer” IS Sun-tzu. It is Michael Corleone quoting Vito quoting Sun-tzu.
As to Huckabee’s religious stance, don’t we want to be warned so we (those of us voting) can vote accordingly? Sorry, I see no violation (yet) of separation of church and state.
Yeah, Huck is the ultimate whore for jeebus, but there’s no rule saying he can’t advertise his faith in his campaign. The irony is, jeebus wouldn’t approve.
Happy Santa Claus Day to all, and Fuck Huck in ‘08!
Hate to pile on, but the earlier posters are right. There is nothing unconstitutional about Huckleberry advertising his superstition of choice.
It might be refreshing (though unfortunately impossible) if we could somehow require full disclosure of any nutty ideas candidate might have.
I think everyone here is missing the point.
His greetings were simply “Merry Christmas” to his fellow xtians and screw anyone else. He doesn’t give a crap about anyone else.
A leader of this nation must care for all or don’t take the job.
Phreedm’s idea of constitutional rights is the right for all to have a cross shoved up their asses in the form of:
unconstitutional national religious holiday
faith-based spreading of bullshit
people with legal degrees from evangelical colleges working in the US justice department….WFT….dont people with degrees from like harvard or something get those jobs…..
There are many more examples of a porous wall between dumb ideas and state….
Here we have the results of years of political correctness, outcome based education, and the dumbing down of America…
And speaking of dumbing down…
whore- A person considered as having compromised principles for personal gain.
Exactly what principles did the Huckster compromise…?
karen:
And how exactly, would you know this?
That?s the ?spirit? karen?to the point and soooo original!
jcc
The FSM spoke with him and then with me, and told me so.
Thanks, and Merry ChriFSMas!
phreedm
Let’s use one of your little tricks on you…
Think about it a while…
jcc: Keep bashing people for being unoriginal…Ha Ha!
Was phreedm hand up your ass when you wrote that?
karen,
You forgot the disclaimers about the probable non-existence of an actual person, Jesus of Nazareth. Actually, if they can tell us what an imaginary Santa Claus they don’t believe in, approves of and doesn’t, I can’t see why an atheist can’t say the same about J.C.
Some of the words put into the construct’s mouth imply that it wouldn’t have approved, but who can be sure, with so many contradictions and interpretations to choose from?
DDDropout
Yes, I do tend to forget that that point doesn’t necessarily go without saying…but doesn’t saying the FSM talked to him sort of cover it?
Indeed, who can be sure of what the construct would say? I’m certain that not even all xians would agree. Maybe if thet one TRUE Christian ever shows up, he/she will know?
thx1138
Show me where the line is. It doesn’t appear in the art of war, a common misquote. Read the quotes here and you won’t find it. Or read the book, and you won’t find it there either.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Art_of_War
Also, Dean Barnett of the Weekly Standard blasted Huckabee for the misquote and his idiotic foreign policy ideas here:
(The standard is a very influential conservative republican magazine.)

Back on topic, sort of, here’s a little of the Christmas spirit for cynical atheists to point at and mock:
Seasons beatings: Parents fight at elementary school Christmas program (good video of the chaos; nobody was seriously injured)
Mayor blames cheap booze for Halifax brawl (Mounties called in, 45 revelers arrested)

Lord Piltdown,
I need a bit more information. I could open only the Halifax link. I’m not quite sure what you’re saying.
Comment from: Charlie
And one more example of the dumbing down of America…
So Charlie…since Christmas is the ONLY national religious holiday…why isn’t anyone sueing over that…?
Hmmmm…???
its horrible to think jesus is running for the white house…..i’d stop practicing witchcraft in salem if I were a witch….
it could be safer back in the trees….
Vote for Ron Paul:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWfIhFhelm8
ok, phreedummy, tis time to ask the question: Is this a white mans country?
Love doing that, he always runs afterwards.
I don’t know about Jeebus, but a whore sure sounds good about now.
….a cyber whore, that is!
Obeah
I was able to open the School Christmas Brawl link. Very poor video of parents fighting at a PTA meeting-lots of ceiling shots. No explanation given. Maybe they got into fisticuffs over who would give the opening prayer.
If anyone else is having problems with the fighting christians link, use this title to help you search:
It is another example of typical christian violence. Children shouldn’t be exposed to these shameful christian rituals.
Ah Karen,
You have such a way with words. I see two bumpter stickers advertising Huckabee’s campaign. Bet you could sell a bunch of of each one.
huckabee the jimmy carter of arkansas like we need a repeat of that.
deepdiver
this should be a white mans country we created it.
Pha:
Yes, you’re correct. My source was probably wrong, as it turns out. It appears the quote may have originally come from Machiavelli.
phreedm….
your acknowledgement that we have a national religious holiday states to me that it is unconstitutional…..and if for one moment you could leave your imaginary worlds….you would appreciate a government for all the people…..what would you be saying if one day you woke up and the majority of our elected officials were swearing in on the koran…..
suck it jesus
This quote comes from Red Thunder on their Makoce Wakkan CD, song–Heartbeat.
It seems to be a popular concept
quantum_flux
nice Ron Paul video….
He has my vote if it were today….
Curious, does anyone have any reasons not to want to vote for Huck other than his religious beliefs. Honestly, not voting for him based on his religious views seems just as wrong as not voting for an Atheist based on the fact that they are an Atheist. The only other reason mentioned is his lack of foreign policy experience. I agree that’s a legimate concern. Has anyone done any research into what he feels the role of his faith would be in his administration. These are questions I’d rather be concerned with. Religious beliefs mean little too me, how they’d affect decisions does.
brad
This is no god blog dot com…..
I certainly only speak for myself when I say I have no respect for religion….especially the type that worships ancient 2000 year old scripture inspired by a supernatural being…..
I do not subscribe to this doctrine because I think 2000 year old stories are 2000 year old stories….
Huck is certainly carrying the cross through his campaign….whats next….a sacrifice….
boo
brad
As I said before, I am of the opinion that Huck is an accessory to rape and murder. Therefore, he is not an eligible candidate worth considering.
brad:
To believe is one thing, to be a leader/pusher of it is another. One of our greatest presidents was a believer but refused to allow it to affect his decisions in office.
Huck was/is a minister and has an agenda to spread xtianity, its influence and its insanity.
His being an xtian, make is no big deal to me. His being a minister does.
gosh brad
how about the only time he went to parole board was to push for release of a rapist who promptly raped again except this time he killed the victim.or what about his view that if you oppose illegal immigration you must hate others.yeah he sings a different song now but the real huckabee is on record just another big spending liberal.
Placing christian death crosses in political advertisements is consistent with a lack of values, which is common among the christian.
At a minimum Huckabee is demonstrating a lack of good judgment, which the christian generally views positively. If Huckabee isn’t elected the christian will have shown that it wasn’t able to rig this particular portion of the electoral process.
Kinda makes me wanna huck up a christian.
I can’t imagine anything worse than a president hickabee. He would be even more anti-science than the president we have now. This strange person sticks god into every sentence he speaks. I guess that’s normal for a preacher. If he’s elected he should be called president preacher man. I think he has a good chance of being nominated by the god-soaked republicans. I sure miss Barry Goldwater who lost in 1964, and John Kennedy who won in 1960. They both respected the wall of separation.
If hickabee wins the nomination he will be up against the pro-science Hillary Clinton who is a thousand times smarter. She sure has my vote.
Off-topic: I found these 2 YouTube videos today.
This one has Ellen Johnson in it and she did an excellent job dealing with some god-soaked morons a year ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPtiZGKE–Y
This one has an interesting song called “Wake Up God” by Al Stravinsky.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TiNzGDkmGY
Huckabee’s rise is the GOP’s demise. All aboard xians. It’s time to go down with the ship. The moderates and fiscal conservatives have fled with the only lifeboats. Can you say Titanic? … blub blub blub.
It’s funny how you mention “whore for Jesus” – very close to the title of this video (pimping for Jesus):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2MkODdVBuU
Is anyone else familiar with Pat Condell? I found him while searching for Atheist videos on you tube. He is now up there wit Richard Dawkins, except on the funny side. Check out all his videos, I think there are around 29 or so – they are all great and to the point! Steve
Whoever is the fidiot who is making those comments about Mormonism being stupid on the blog section, you are very incorrect. Do you want to know why you are incorrect? In case you have not noticed, they found Noah’s ark, and along with it, they found the tablets of Enoch. These tablets were written by Enoch and Adam (the one in the Bible) and the writings of Adam were tested and were found to have been written in around 2,500,000BC. At this time, the very “primitive” humans, which is what Adam was, wrote his testimony of God’s existence which is given in one of the Mormon scripture books, the Pearl of Great Price, states in the Book of Moses.
Bull crap statement atheists use (BCSAU) #1: Religion was invented to explain things science could not.
Refuted: Back in Adam’s time, the human brain lacked the capability to think in “why” terms, so in other words, if a tree talked to a person, then the person would not question why the tree was talking to them but would just acknowledge the fact that it was and that it was a different type of tree. If Adam saw and spoke with God, and God told him all things, it happened and was not just made up.
BCSAU #2: Adam was crazy and so were all ancient prophets of the Old and New Testaments.
Refuted: Mental diseases that caused hallucinations did not exist until the late first millenium AD, and they most definitely did not exist in Adam’s time. That was something that evolved with our minds, just like the ability to concept “why”, and creative thinking.
BCSAU #3: Adam made it all up.
In Adam’s time, primitive humans lacked the ability to think creatively. Though they had means of communicating with each other and recording things, no matter how primitive they were and their means of doing so were, they had the mentality to do so.
BCSAU #4: The parting of the Red Sea and destruction Soddom and Gommorah is a load of BS.
Refuted: The parting of the Red Sea was actually proven to have happened. What it was was a VERY VERY rare phenominon in which two tidal waves start at one point and form and travel in opposite directions. While forming they push the water up like walls and there is a path of dry land in between. The whole process takes a minimum of four hours. Afterwards, the waters collapse over the path of dry land and the tidal waves part in opposite directions. The same goes for the destruction of Soddom and Gamorrah. These cities were built right near a volcano(s), and when a volcano erupts, it looks just like fire falling from the sky.
BCSAU #5: The Virgin Birth and Resurrection of Jesus Christ is false and so are His miracles.
Refuted: There is evidence of both of these: As for the Resurrection of Jesus: He was buried in a tomb with a flat, circular stone sealing him into the cavern, and there was no other enterance. Through science, it was proven the stone was moved from the inside of the cavern. The stone was too heavy for any one man to move. It was set up in such a way that from the inside of the tomb, the sides of the stone could not be touched, and only the face of it could. The stone was rolled to the side, and not tipped over. That was proven too. No natural forces could have done it because it was moved from the inside. (The same technology used here is used in crime investigations.) As for the Virgin Birth: from the Shroud of Turin, they took Jesus’ DNA and discovered that he had rather peculiar, intracible genes from a father (he was not of Earth), but had normal, tracible genes from a mother. Also, some mother animal recently gave birth to a baby of her kind when her species needs a male partner to procreate, and there was no male partner involved whatsoever in the creation of this baby. I think it was a dolphin, but I am not sure what animal it was. I am sure however that it was a mammal, like us humans are. So it is possible for it to have happened with Mary, in fact, it is proven to have been so. Also, thousands of people witnessed Jesus heal the sick and raise the dead, and the majority of those people hated him, so they would not lie for his cause. Put two and two together.
Why Mormonism is correct (WMIC) #1: How could have Joseph Smith have claimed to revealed the new translation of the Holy Bible and restored his truths (the Mormon church uses the one completed in 1833, and the Community of Christ uses the one that was never completed, and is a continuation of the one completed in 1833, try not to mix these up) and have all of his restorations made there be proven true by the Dead Sea Scrolls to the very T, at a time when the Dead Sea Scrolls were not even known to have existed? The Dead Sea Scrolls were a copy of the Original Christian Church’s scripture at the time of Jesus Christ.
WMIC #2: One time a prophet of the Mormon church, Lorenzo Snow, raised a girl from the dead who died of scarlet fever, and there are many witnesses to this. Firstly, she was not in a coma, but actually dead, because she was not breathing and her heart was not beating for several hours. One can survive without oxygen for only three minutes. He but his hands on her head and commanded her to come back and more than an hour after he left, she awoke wondering where the man was who awoke her.
WMIC #3: He predicted the whole start and path of the Civil War, and its outcomes 100% correctly and was not at all obscure like Nostradamus. He was rather straight forward as possible. He also predicted the two world wars, the rise of Nazi Germany, and the Holocaust, along with many LDS church related things, which were 100% correct.
WMIC #4: Joseph Smith was not insane: he was tested and so was his carcass with recent technologies with DNA engineering, leading to a computer mapping of his inactive brain, which showed no signs of mental insanity. No one in his family was known to be crazy either.
WMIC #5: There were no spectacles or a hat. This is just a bunch of bullocks that antiMormons make up. You really need to consider the source when doing research. I cannot believe that a man who went to Yale could be so flawed. There were two seer stones, a sword that belonged to Laban, and a breastplate, along with the golden plates.
WMIC #6: Eight witnesses beheld the plates IN THEIR HANDS IN REAL LIFE, NOT JUST IN A VISION IN REAL LIFE. Some of them who saw these plates were excommunicated later on, meaning they lost their jobs and their places in the church. However, when asked right after being excommunicated and then by different people later on, the still testified that they had seen them. Do you not think that with all of their anger for being excommunicated (which they were VERY ticked off), they would have told that it was a lie if it was, or in your words, a con, after they were excommunicated and were ticked off as ever? They were not being threatened or bribed, the church had not the money to bribe or power to threaten at that time. These people (the excommunicated ones), along with others, were with Joseph Smith during most of his visions, which some of these visions testified that the First Vision and the other visions Joseph had alone were true, while others had no need to mention it. They were not insane either and that is proven true the same way Joseph Smith’s sanity was proven true.
WMIC #7: Look at the http://www.jefflindsay.com/LDS/FAQ/ for more information. ie. What he says about the Dead Sea Scrolls may seem to contradict what I say, but it really does not, for I believe I have explained it well enough in my WMIC #1 statement.
Books I recommend: I reccoment The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Understanding Mormonism by Drew Williams.
Websites I recommend: I recommend http://www.mormon.org and http://www.lds.org and ESPECIALLY http://www.jefflindsay.com/LDSFAQ/. Look at this one as soon as possible.
Our underwear is clearly none of you dumb atheists’ business, but I will tell you a bit about that. It is soft, it is warm, it is white, it is snug, it never makes you too hot or warm, and it also is bullet and fireproof. That is right, you heard me, bullet and fireproof. A woman wearing her temple underwear was in a fire, and her body suffered great burns, except those areas covered by the holy garments. (Her hair was okay, and so was her face, but it was most of her limbs that were burned; however, the garments only are like a t-shirt with a pair of boxers.) Also, a man was shot twice in a crossfire, and they hit him in the chest, but he suffered no damage and the bullets did not even penetrate him. It is all a matter of faith, because if a Mormon has not enough faith, the the garments will not give them this heavy-duty protection like mentioned above. These are both things which have recently happened, and you can check into them, for they are recorded. They have happened before and will happen again. It is by NO means stupid. That is more like the dumb crap you believe. I own the garments myself, and as far as I am concerned, you are just envious because you want a pair.
Thus, as you know, I am a very reliable source. I had my IQ tested by a doctor with a PhD (not by some faulty test on the internet) and it came out to be 155, which is a genius level. (Genius is 149+.) I am also a liscensed psychiatrist.
I myself am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, born and bread, and I think I would know more about my religion than any nonMormon does.
I think VERY scientifically about everything even though I am very faithful, devout, and religious. Science has done nothing but prove Mormonism right and the existence of God as truth. I research things like this alot and I would know better. NO SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE WOULD EVER MAKE ME LOSE MY FAITH EITHER.
Did you ever pick up one book of scripture? ie. the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, or the Pearl of Great Price? If you did, and actually understood them without desiring to prove them wrong, you would find that they are true and if you researched science and had greater knowledge on science and the things it has proven, you would find that science proves God, Jesus, and Mormonism correct above all other religions.
Polygamy was only used to populate the church in the beginning and is a BIG sin unless God commands you otherwise. This is the only sin that has this aspect. In 1890, God revealed to Wilfred Wodruff that this (polygamy) will never again be necessary and was thus henceforth and forever a sin no matter what because God was no longer going to be giving this commandment to anyone anymore. God also knew it would allow Utah to become part of the US, so it was all in perfect timing.
Us Mormons are not really scientific, but faithful people and we respect everyone and NEVER insult anyone’s faith. We believe in science too, but we do not base our religious beliefs on it. It just so happens to agree with our doctrine very well. We believe everyone has the right to worship how, where, or what they may.
You should watch what you say about people’s religions because you might offend some people.
Why do all you people have very dark hair and very pale faces anyways? Are you vampires? Lol.
Quit insulting Jesus too, who ever is doing so, you are (a) stupid faggot(s). You will all suffer in the end if you do not repent of ALL of your unChristian ways.
Ammon2552,
You are too funny. Seriously, you are too funny, I wasn’t able to read your entire comment because of too much LOL.
I was able to get through the first bit though. Is fidiot a moron word? What does fidiot mean?
You have to admit that mormons are among the least intelligent of the christian species correct?
Ammon the genius is trolling through our threads posting the same exact post.
I guess his mind is too complex to actually post something related to each topic.
Maybe his magic underwear is bunching up.
Ammon
So you’re a liscensed (sic) psychiatrist, eh? I guess spelling isn’t part of the genius IQ test. What did they do, handicap you with 100 points because you were a Mormon, and didn’t want to bruise your self-esteem?
And you were “born and bread” too?
White or wheat? Or rye or pumpernickel, perhaps?
I think we should test your bullet-proof underwear. Tell you what, put your not-too-hot, not too-cold, just right, Goldilocks boxers over your head and we”ll see if they stop a slug between the eyes. Just have faith.
So, Adam was capable of learning a language and transcribing it, but couldn’t grasp the question “why”?
Do you even read what you’re writing?
What a yutz.
Karen,
I think pumpernickel sounds just about right.
I have to say, even though I couldn’t get through all of it, it ought to win an award for the most entertaining post. (Kinda makes pheddy look smart, shutter)
Obeah
I had been in over my head over at RichardDawkins.net, reading a thread that had sidetracked into a discussion about Artificial Intelligence. It was fascinating, even though I was more than a little lost in all the computer- and neurology-speak.
Then I check in back here and find MagicUnderwearMan proclaiming his genius and spamming us.
*sigh*
