On the same topic, I noticed today that someone had placed a large “Happy Chanka” (sic) sign alongside I-40 here in Chapel Hill so I called the town hall and left them a message (it was after hours). My complaint was that the sign violated the zoning and sign ordinance. I can’t wait to hear what they say tomorrow about it.

I’m sure you could find this stuff at Spencers or online somewhere. The Solstice Tree is really cool because it’s shaped like a cone!

But of course the important issue here is the sign and the reactions from people afflicted with religious delusions. Some persons reported being upset that the display implicated THEIR religion. Yet it does not mention any specific religion, and nobody thinks that the dominant religion in Connecticut was the one that motivated the 9/11 attacks.

I think the display makes a perfectly valid point, the criminals responsible for 9/11 were motivated by their religious delusions and the hatred validated by those delusions.

As far as the folks protesting about the display are concerned, me thinks the faithful doth protest too much.

But good work CT atheists. We should all try to follow their example.

Connecticut atheists, taking advantage of a town’s policy of allowing holiday-season displays in its public park, have erected a 10-foot tall sign in celebration of the winter solstice that includes a message blaming the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, on religious believers.

Now the nuts think “religious believers” were not responsible for the attacks that day? Huh?
