I belong to this group in CT. Recently we put up an “atheist” display infront of the town green. It is creating somewhat of a firestorm. A great way to equalize yourself with those who wish government support.
Lincoln was a great man shaped by his time…and he was probably gay.
Yeah, welcome to America, fucktard.
& THAT, my friends, is jcc’s cue to step in & prove that he’s NOT using any double-standards at all. By coming down on 1 of his own.
Funny how the xtians misbehave, there’s not a peep out of good ole ‘why can’t you all behave like good little children’?
Well phreedm, you answered the question… sort of…
By which I mean you answered it wrong…
The Federalist Papers aren’t the Constitution… try again…
Because we all know that the exact words have to be there… right…?
Like “separation of church and state…”
I guess “states’ rights” is just a myth too…
A Wiccan display that had been erected beside a nativity scene got run over. Wann a take bets on who mighta done it? I’m bettin’ it wasn’t an atheist.

At least we have an honest admission here. It’s amazing that someone can have such a strong opinion about a subject they admit they know nothing about…I believe the word to describe this condition is “ignorance”.
Comment from: Rusty Shackleford
Obviously you haven’t a clue about law…but ok. Using your standard, America is not a “secular” nation either…
wow…what a quandary. Not a christian nation and not a secular nation…I wonder if our FF’s had a clue of what they were doing…
Thanks for the update…
oh…and since you’re having difficulties understanding…

Back to the original thread…
Even though the gunman was “rasied in a church” (sound familiar?)
And yes, every news article HAS to mention that he was homeschooled…
It appears he’s been influenced by blogs such as AA’s…
Does this quote from one of his emails sound the least bit familiar…? Kind of reminds me of the display in Connecticut…
Now exactly where do you think he was brainwashed into believing this…???
Whoops…wrong thread for the last comment…it’s way to early, but you get the point…
Poor phreedm… reduced to childish insults by his own inability to make a coherent argument…
Sorry phreedy… I am a licensed attorney… I understand the law… you don’t… as is quite obvious…
But keep trying… you might get there some day… here’s a clue… two things the Constitution doesn’t mention… “states’ rights”… and xianity…
Too bad for you and your mythologies…
The US is a atheist nation because we were all born atheists. Say it load and proud!
What,
Each and everyone of the founders of the United States, yea, even all of them were born to Atheism. Most, if any, of these strong people only lost their Atheism through repeated and brutal abuse of their minds by Christians.
djpoobahl, As a builder of the CT. display I want to point out that the display has several panels, the side directly facing town hall and closet to foot traffic is devoted to the winter solstice. Of course all media photos are of the Imagine No Religion panel. The solstice panel reads: “The Winter Solstice. In late December the sun is lower and the days are shorter than any time of the year. Throughout the rest of the winter the sun gets higher and the days get longer. Because of this people have celebrated the Winter Solstice since time immemorial. People used to believe that gods moved the sun across the sky. Today we know that there are no gods, and that the sun moves by natural causes, and we celebrate not only the movement of the sun but our ability to understand that movement.”
Hope this answers your question.

Hmm, am I the only atheist that sees this display as a little different than what the town probably expected would be put up? I mean, the atheist group was going to put up a display regarding solstice, so for me, I’d expect to see a billboard with a tagline “The real reason for the season”, or a “Happy Solstice” or something showing the historical origins referencing the solstice. Instead the group put up a highly charged billboard that has zero reference to winter solstice.
