I was out and only caught the last 10 minutes of the show. Dave, you sounded almost apologetic for being an atheist in the little bit I heard. What was up? Kinkaid was being very militant while you came off as hesitant. Sorry I missed the bulk of the show, maybe the story was in there.

You do have a point, but though the way the question has been phrased may be a little terse and scathing (after being ignored for so long), the question itself brings up a valid point in an argument you so often make. Your arguments stands that if the FFs were christian, then therefore they framed the DI and the constitution on the basis of being christian documents. Therefore, extending this logical argument you make, one would have to assume that since the FFs were slave owners and approved of the practice, then the rights and privileges framed in the documents they created were intended for whites only.
The next step is to say that this is a white christian country because that is the way the founders made it, and the original intent of the FFs should be followed to the letter. The constitution then cannot be a living, changing article of law made to benefit and protect all of the PEOPLE who reside under.
Your thoughts, phreedm?

A better question would be: Why would a bunch of non-seafaring religious zealots risk a voyage across the atlantic ocean, only to live in the wilderness? Answer: Because they were escaping religious persecution of the same kind that Atheists live under today in this country.

As far as the reason for the colonists coming to the “new land”, all of you seem to think it was because of religious persecution. WRONG. They had already fled to other European countries.
The major reason for colonization was as an ECONOMIC venture.

Ok since phreedum won’t answer the question then I will. Jesus probably never existed and christianity is a cobbling together of the mithras myth and other older gods but for the sake of argument let’s say that he did exist. If we look at the occupants of the Levant today they are considered to be “white” so jesus probably looked a lot like modern day Lebanese, Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians, etc. The peoples of the Middle East and North Africa are usually classified as being “white” but not in a Northern European blonde hair, blue eyes, white complexion way but rather in a dark hair, brown eyes, and olive complexion way. Think about it-does an Egyptian really look all that different from a Greek? or an Andalucian from a Moroccan? a Sicilian from a Tunisian?
Mostly yes but the Pilgrims, having left England for the Netherlands, found religious persecution there too so they set out for the New World to both build god’s kingdom on earth and to be able to own their own land. In a crowded Europe where most land was already owned by someone else this was very tempting.
Economic ventures are why my family left the Old Country for the New World!

Only partially correct…There is no question that many left for religious persecution…but they did have their trips financed by trading companies…Today we’d call them underwriters…I call that very smart planning…and when they arrived…many placed there trust and faith in God, as is evident in their compacts…

You think because the founding fathers were xians that also makes us an xian nation. I am gonna shed some light for you that are in darkness about what this country really is and what the founding fathers really intended. The founding fathers had something in common beyond xianity and that is they ALL belonged to the freemasons.
Through my family I have inherited many freemason books written during the founding of our country by our founding fathers and I also own a complete, 200 year old encyclopedic set that details the history of freemasonry and it was THEIR persecution that led the founding fathers to proclaim their freedom from religion.
What our founding fathers said in public about xianity is what they HAD to say to convince a bunch of idiots who burned witches to fight for our freedom, but what they wrote in the constitution guaranteed that religion would never shackle a man in this world again, that is the purpose of this nation. We our founded on freemason philosophy, a philosophy that believes each man, and each man alone is responsible for determining his own destiny and happiness and that no one can take this freedom from us.
You dishonor this country by claiming it as religious, and you dishonor yourselfs by demanding presidential candidates still proclaim they are xians and I can assure you that they are lying to you they are freemasons, every one of them. They are free men (and women) not bound to any god but only unto thinking and reason, the very concepts that are central to capitalism.

Why did the freemasons put “by thier creator”? This phrase is the most important in the entire document, the exact wording is “their creator” not “our creator”, not “jesus”, not “lord”. The freemasons believe their creator is in a nutshell themselves, each man creates himself, each man is his own god and there is no more powerful being, only pure conciousness, which was the first thing to exist after nothing and it is the well from which we all draw our power, but there is no god, no puppet master.
And the phrase “their god” also guarantees each man can decide for himself who and what created him. It also shows a seperation between the founding fathers and the xians “their god” not “our god”.
