I was not suggesting that a people should not control their own country or government, only pointing out that the Africans who have taken over their own countries have not done a spectacular job of maintaining the economies, peace, etc. And we were discussing African people, not those of Iraq which is a whole other discussion.

I guess Alex has got me a bit on edge about making statements that favor one racial group over another. Given equal treatment, environment, education, social favor, economic and natural resources, I don’t think there would be much if any difference based on skin color. Don’t you think this is a breathtakingly simplistic analysis? I have no idea if your IQ assertions are correct, and don’t really care to investigate, but what I do know is that there are a large number of factors that influence the relative success of failure of political entities. To latch on to a single controversial issue as the prime (if not sole) unsupported causation factor seems to me to be glaringly simplistic.

Alexatheist’s remarks about race and IQ are pretty much bottom of the barrel stuff, with very little intellectual credibility. You have really shown your ignorance here, if not your bigotry. I’d like to present a scientific rebuttal
Lets first look at a couple of his undefined concepts:
1) Race.
Race has NO BASIS IN BIOLOGY. Yes that’s right….there is NO BIOLOGICAL BASIS FOR THE SEPERATION OF HUMANS INTO WHAT WE CALL “RACE”. The “idea” of race is simply the result of two human characteristics.
a) We like to classify.
b) We are visual creatures.
Hence we classify humans into groups that we can easily visually differentiate, usually on the basis of skin colour and facial features.
Now, if our predominant sense was auditory or olfactory, rather than visual, “races” would be defined by how we sound, or how we smell.
We could just as easily divide people into groups based on differences in the structure of Insulin Growth Factor Receptor, or any one of the estimated 50,000 genes in our genome. Each of these classification systems would have as much basis in biology as our current classifications of race!
The fact is, that the genetic diversity within “races” is as great as the genetic diversity between “races”. What conclusion can we draw from this fact? Simple – “races” are a completely human construction with no basis in biology. Alexatheist clearly does not grasp this.
2) IQ
Alexatheist clearly believes that IQ is a unbiased measure of “intelligence” (an undefined concept). This is the second major scientific ignorance contained in his post.
Of course anyone who has read, even briefly, about this subject will quickly be dissuaded of this notion (if their bigotry allows them to).
IQ test, in themselves, are of course biased toward certain cultures. Not only does Alexatheist not recognise this fact, but then compounds the error, by assuming that IQ is directly proportional to the competely undefined concept of intelligence. There is no science in any of this.
Let’s perform a thought experiment:
Alexathiest, proud of his culturally inflated IQ, is suddenly transported to the middle of the Nubian desert in the Sudan, alongside a low IQ native inhabitant. Over a period of 72 hours he dies of thirst, while the native inhabitant cheerfully goes about his dailylife using his cultural knowledge. To the objective observer, who is the “stupid” one now??
Unfortunatly, Alexatheists views on these subjects are not unusual. To me it is really very sad. That he airs these views, ie. that completely man-made and arbitrary divisions among humans could be used as a basis for segregation, on an atheist website….well I am not sure I have a word for that.

Let’s assume for a moment that you’re right about Africans “failing.” Why do you jump to the conclusion that “race” is behind it? Could it not be a lack of natural resources, or pressure from “more successful” countries?
If you really wanted to be scientific about it, you would say “I don’t know” instead of jumping to a conclusion.
There are way too many factors involved to narrow it down to skin color.
While this incident clearly shows the insanity and irrational beliefs of Muslims, there are still irrational atheists who don’t understand the depth of the various factors that affect people. Alexatheist has posted numerous simplified and racist statements relating to this incident claiming that “black africans” are below other humans because of statistical correlations. Alexatheist fails to acknowledge multitude of factors brought up in the book “Guns, Germs & Steel” as well as the destructive forces of European colonialism.
The destructive impact of religion is obvious when you look at it. Alexatheist should end the willful ignorance toward other influences that affect people which are so quickly condemned.
