I don’t like that Ellen questioned FFRF’s membership numbers. They have more than American Atheists. Ellen just gets more TV time because she has “Atheist” in the name it seems, but she is envious over another group’s numbers.

I missed the Tuesday show but I am a member of FFRF and not AA. I was but I just signed up for AA one year and thought FFRF was more informative with their Freethought Today magazine so I kept my membership there.(yes, I know I could do both but I have limitations)

Church? Couldn’t they come up with a better name than that? The god nuts will look at that and say “atheists go to church just like us”. I would like to see the word “church” and all other religious words become obsolete some day. Atheists going to a “church” is not helpful.

The crosses got to go and most likely the christian thugs will lose in court. What bothers me is why waste taxpayer money even if it’s a secular memorial? I’m grateful for the sacrifice police officers make when they lose their lives fighting crime, but how is spending taxpayer money on a memorial going to do them any good? They are worm food now. If politicians want to spend the money anyway, why not at least offer it to the families of these troopers. Money should be spent on the living, not the dead.

Even though I wish the name would be changed, of course I’m a big fan of freethought. If I lived in Dallas I would probably check it out, and after I got done complaining about the name of the place, I would probably enjoy talking to the people there very much.

I give Ellen a lot of credit for trying, and she did come across well. I don’t know why they even had the other guy on – he hardly said anything. Unfortunately, Glenn Beck is a buffoon and wasn’t about to engage in any serious conversation about the issue. Also unfortunately, I’ll bet anyone stupid enough to watch his show on a regular basis just blindly agrees with his dumbass drivel. I could hardly make it through a couple of minutes before wanting to throw things at my tv. Thank goodness for the DVR, so I could put him on pause
I agree. Even worse was when I switched over to “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” and they had a giggly blonde from my proud state of NC playing the game. When asked “What European country is Budapest the capitol of?” she answered “I thought Europe WAS a country!” (giggle giggle) “I know they speak French there.” (giggle) “Is France a country?” (giggle giggle). After screaming at the screen I thought to myself “Why can’t we just humanely euthanise these people?” (not that I’m being serious about implementing my modest proposal)

I guess I am alone here but I thought she was pathetic. She is very pretty but did not handle his responses on her toes. When he brought up where all the founding fathers believed in the almighty god, and kept pushing it, she should have said ‘but not the christian god’, and perhaps quoted some of their statements about the ff’s thoughts on xtianity. I personally know many atheists that could have handled Beck much better. And why does she have to appear to be so angry all the time? Dawkins would have been much calmer and would have gotten the point across much better.

I have to know… Why do you care. These are cops that died in the line of duty. A true Atheists really would not care. It is not about the religous sign it is about men who died. It is not about what you do not belive in it is about what their family belives in. I can understand if it is about tax money that comes out of your pocket. But it really should not be about the cross who cares. You should be pissed that they are putting up memorials to fallen lawenforcment, but then that sounds really bad.. It is almost as bad as the Kansas church that goes and protest at funerals of fallen soldiers. There are just certian things we don’t need to be involved in. Just becuase we don’t belive we need to respect others beliefs or we become the same as Al Quida.

I caught a bit of the show and I thought Ellen did a good job up against Beck. About all you can do is let him yap and dig himself in deeper. Its not exactly a Larry King interview now is it.
Still can’t decide what is worse… that so many people believe there is an “American Religion”, or that so many people want one.
Mormons think of the cross as “The Symbol of Murdering Jesus.”
They really don’t like it.
