A 14-year-old boy who refused blood transfusions in his fight against leukemia — based on religious beliefs — died Wednesday night in Seattle, hours after a Skagit County judge affirmed his right to reject the treatment.Dennis Lindberg, of Mount Vernon, died around 6 p.m. at Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center in Seattle, according to KING-5 television. As a Jehovah’s Witness, Lindberg objected to receiving blood. Doctors had said he needed it to survive his cancer treatment.In court Wednesday, Superior Court Judge John Meyer said that Lindberg, though in the eighth grade, was old enough to know that refusing blood transfusions might amount to a “death sentence,” and that he had the right to make that decision.

Here’s where freedom becomes child abuse. An adult making a choice to end his life based on religion is stupidity. But a CHILD dying is abuse of the parent, and the government has the legal and moral obligation to step in and require basic medical care so the kid lives to be an adult. Yesterday I posted the “naughty and Nice” list, and it occurred to me that they are partially right — there IS a war on Christmas. The reason it’s so confusing is that its players are ALL Christian.

The writers are obviously Christian, but I’m willing to bet that lots, nay ALL of the bad guys on their list (Target, for example)are also run by Christians. THOSE Christians have mostly Christian customers.So where are we Atheists? On the side, shaking our heads and wondering why WE are the ones who are being blamed!I’ll tell you why we’re being blamed, because they are used to blaming us and we are used to taking it. They beat each other up and blame us for the mess, just because they have done so in the past.So YES, Dear Christians, your war on Christmas is indeed real, but it is you who wage war against your brother. You who point the finger. You who organize the boycott.The real culprit is the Christians of Yesteryear who made the terrible mistake of making Christmas a nationAL holiday. In doing so, they force people to take off from work and find something to do. Since a good sized group of the country are not (and never will be) church-going Xtians, what else are they gonna do but make secular aspects of your holy day more prevalent. You want church attendance, they want presents and Santa. And on it goes. Compare to how religious holidays that are NOT National holidays treated, like Yom Kippour, the Jewish holiest day, when Jews go to temple and everyone else goes to work. THAT’s a religious holiday, and that’s what Christmas would be –solemn and special for those who want it — if it was not forced down all our throats.NOTE — this is a prime example of how the church wiggling into the state hurts the church dramatically by forcing itself to be subjected to external forces like capitalism and democracy.Christians HEAR ME! By ABDULLAH SHIHRIRIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) – Saudi Arabia’s Justice Ministry said a girl who it sentenced to jail time and flogging after being gang raped by seven men was an adulteress who invited the attack because at the time she was partially dressed in a parked car with her lover.The statement from the ministry, carried by the Saudi Press Agency late Saturday, defended the court’s decision to sentence the girl to six months in prison and 200 lashes for violating the country’s strict sex segregation laws.It also sought to ease international outrage over the case by discrediting the woman who had told reporters earlier that she was meeting a friend from high school when the attack occurred.”The Saudi justice minister expressed his regret about the media reports over the role of the women in this case which put out false information and wrongly defended her,” the statement said. “The charged girl is a married woman who confessed to having an affair with the man she was caught with.” Known only as the “Girl from Qatif,” the 19-year-old rape victim said she was a newlywed who was meeting a high school friend in his car to retrieve a picture of herself from him when the attack occurred in the eastern city of Qatif. While in a car with him, two men got into the vehicle and drove them to a secluded area where others waited, and then she and her companion were both raped.
