No, it could not have been the case that I came to atheism by thinking for myself. It could not be due to adopting skepticism in place of blind faith. It could not be my insistence that claims of "truth" be backed up by testable evidence. No, it was definitely because I read some science fiction when I was a kid that I blew the God-idea off for ever.<br /> <br /> And should SETI ever find evidence of intelligent life elsewhere in this universe, what will the fundies have to say then, when our science "fiction" proved more prescient than their faith-based "fact"? Oh, I'm sure they'll pull something out of their apologetical arse to explain it away.<br /> <br /> I only hope I'm still alive to watch the show.
