Boy, those Jesus Freaks love raping kids, don’t they? Cloak it any way you like, this is rape, this is condoning rape, this is condoning and committing rape in the name of a god, and this is VILE STUFF!This is stupid. This is barbaric. This is animalistic. This is primitive.
ST. GEORGE, Utah (Sept. 14) – A former follower of a polygamous sect leader claims she was acting to preserve her eternal salvation when she obeyed his command and married her cousin at age 14. Now 21, the woman was married in a 2001 religious ceremony to her 19-year-old cousin, then followed the counsel of Warren Jeffs to submit to her husband “mind, body and soul.” Jeffs, 51, leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, went on trial Thursday on two counts of rape as an accomplice for using his church authority to coerce the marriage. The bride was the first witness in the trial and was expected to return to the stand Friday. On Thursday, she testified that Jeffs has long been an authority figure in her life. In 2001, he was a high-ranking church counselor and had been the girl’s teacher and principal at an FLDS-run school, teaching children principles of the faith. In 2002, Jeffs became church president, or “prophet,” succeeding his father. “The prophet was as God to us. He was God on Earth and his counselors were pretty much the same, so they had jurisdiction over us,” she said. The Associated Press generally does not name people alleging sexual abuse. Prosecutors played a tape of a marriage lesson recorded by Jeffs in 1997 to emphasize the point that obedience by women of the faith was expected. “Give yourself to him, that means full obedience to righteous principles. No half way, no holding back,” Jeffs said on the tape.

jcc,
You are so predictable. I was going to reply that you are wrong about my knowledge of xianity but it occurs to me that my understanding of Christianity is far wider than your own. You have a narrow understanding of your own particular sect which, in fact, is bordering on a congregation of one.
I cannot take what you say seriously because, when difficult questions arise, you divert and dodge, then attempt to demonstrate our ignorance of your odd little religion by saying, “you just don’t understand”.
Do tell jcc, to what god do you pray?
Oh, I forgot to address the Catholic issue.
None of the manifold sects of xianity are in the Bible. While I really don’t like the, I was here first argument; it was them Holy Farters what begun all the nonsense. Everything else is an offshoot.
Of course there is a claim that “my religion is directly from Paul” but saying something over and over again don’t make it so, do it.
“We are the true atheists”. Don’t see that one much. Ever?
It’s easy, you guys – when a christian does something bad, well then he’s not a christian because a christian would never do anything bad.
We just don’t get it because we don’t “understand christianity.” Apparently it requires special training in circular reasoning.
What,
You’re not a “true atheist” because phe… says so. I bin raking (3 pronged) my brain to think o’ something that an atheist could do, short of believe in a god, any god to qualify as a “false atheist”.
hey jcc,
(2)To what god do you pray?
Obeah:
To the only God there is.
Shiva? Zeus? Ahura Mazda?
jcc,
And His/Her name would be….
I am going to stop all the coy. I know you know what I am asking.
If you worship the god of the old testament AND Jesus, does that not make polytheism? There is nothing wrong with that if it’s your belief. Just don’t claim that there is only one god. Perhaps it is OK since, strictly speaking, poly- has to be many. But that might be where we could introduce the Holy Ghost; a concept I have never really understood.
Now, please don’t start claiming that they are one in the same since that is a monumental stretch.
Unless, of course, the Bible is errant and the utterances of Jesus on the cross were Hisownself talking to Hisownself and NOT to his father.
Perhaps the concept of father is outside my comprehension. I’m certain you can explain this to me.
Jeeeeeeez, you atheists really don’t get anything!
Y’see, God created everything, and then humans disobeyed. So, in an effort to save humans from Himself, He used Himself to impregnate Mary so she can give birth to Himself. When He was baptised, He used Himself to point out Himself as His beloved son. In the end, He sacrifised Himself to Himself so He can save humans from Himself.
Easy as 3.
Oh, and whomever gets the “easy as 3″ comment, you get 100 points.
As opposed to easy as 3.1416…?
Score!
I wonder how many xtians would get that one (pi being approximated to 3)?
Good summary st L. Now it all makes sense.
Imforgvn turned me Christian so, lemme get this staight: The trinity is pie?
That’s pi-ous.
No, The bible states that the circumference of a circle is 3 times its diameter. A really, imprecise value for a supposedly perfect book written by god. I think god should have taken more math. lessons when he was just a young tyke god.
Anadrol
The Sea?
anadrol,
And the xtians wonder why we laugh!
I hate to play Devil’s Advocate (oh, the irony), but that’s not a bulletproof argument against the Bible. The Bible does not mention the width of the rim of the bowl, as such you can’t actually defer anything about the ratio of the circumference to the diameter.
There are better proofs of irregularity elsewhere.
It’s also possible that God disapproves of accuracy and as such desired the numbers to be rounded to the nearest 5.
God must have been a poor engineer.
Last time I checked the rim was the outside diameter of something. Standard Engineering lingo. That’s the way I read it anyway. If you want to make it a vague argument it is even more proof that god is mot only mathematically incompetent but is also not really god at explaining things in a clear and concise manner, a bit of a dummy really. No wonder all those Xians out there look up to him.
