I wouldn't call that going great.

Sure they made some noise, but nothing will change, it's Texas!

Maybe in 100 years.

I wouldn't call that going great.

Agreed...close up pics. Used often by those who wish to fool others into believing the event was larger then it was...

A group of roughly 100 people, led by the American Atheists Texas State Director Joe Zamecki, called for the removal of the newly included phrase "under God" in the Texas Pledge of Allegiance.

Wow...we had more then that at our free outdoor movie...

It's the lack of participation at events like this that question the idea that there are 30 million non-believers in this nation...or that the atheist movement is tkaing over...simply propagting another myth...this was (another) dismal failure...

Hey...weren't there about 4 more people at the protest against the AIG museum...?

I thought that a wider angle shot of the crowd would show it to be larger. The fact is, it was EXTREMELY hot, and there is very little shade in that area, so most of our people bunched up under the trees there, for shade. That tended to conceal some of them for most of the photos. I would've said "Hey let's not hide our numbers, please spread out a bit, so everyone can be seen," but I knew the heat was the issue, and it was a hot issue!

The old joke used to be "Atheists held a picket today, at which all 12 Atheists in America attended." Well that number has had to be upped a little bit many times in the last few decades. It still takes a lot of guts to go public with this perspective, and obviously it's easy and safe to say you're a Christian... Not so impressive.

We Atheists are coming of age in American society, and I'm glad it's all being done through safe and peaceful means, with an inclusive and positive goal. Peace for all through VOLUNTARY secularism. :o)
