The 1920's cartoons were a "teaching moment" for me. I had no idea any such things were being published (being allowed to be published) back then. But it does go to show the long "war" that science, critical thinking, and rational empiricism has waged and must continue to wage to keep the world moving forward, and not backwards as the retrogressive fundamentalists of all religious and political stripes would prefer.

*****

Maybe the anti-semitic cartoons *have* resulted in violent backlash. Maybe that's what "bomb Iran NOW!" is all about.

*****

Anti-christian cartoons? As prone to violence as some fundie Xtians are these days, I'd be somewhat reluctant to undertake drawing any such cartoons myself (even if I could draw, which I can't), and would sure as heck do it pseudonymously.

I had viewed the Danish cartoons months ago, and couldn't find anything offensive about them, for the life of me. (pun intended)

If people, everywhere not just the US, would build the highest walls possible between religion and government then respecting others of different religion or no religion would be an easier thing to do. Notice that I said "respecting others of different religion" rather than "respecting other religions. Religion is just nonsense.
