I don’t really think that the comic is terribly insulting. As a matter of fact, I think if you were to replace the islamo-centric words with xian-centric words that xians might actually find it funny and complementary.
You can certainly find more insulting comics. Please be fair and provide xian, jewish, etc comics as well.

i didn’t see anything funny in the cartoon.what i did see was blasphemy and insult to the honor of islamic women.unlike atheism islam respects women as breeders and helpmates for men.

The papers should have not run that strip because it isn’t funny. I’m in the tiny minority of people who never thought “Bloom County” was funny either.

Bloom County and Opus rock, I have been a fan for years. I would not always call it THE funniest, but the observations they make are fun. Opus has been punching at the President for quite a while. When the local paper here(Indianapolis Star) began running Opus, there was a bit of complaining by the locals. I assume that a large enough group supported it, because it is still there every Sunday. They have not restrained printing it no matter who it is taking shots at. A rare instance in Indiana. Now if we could add “The far side” I would be a little happier. The daily runs “Bizzaro” that is very far side like. Some of the Bizzaro stuff is really good. The far side is no longer produced, but there is a lot in syndication.

It was funny seeing imforgvn say, “. . . if you are still interesting.” My mother-in-law is Cuban, and she sometimes makes funny mistakes like that. If I yawn when I’m around her she asks, “are you boring?”
One time, she was telling me about these friends of hers who came to this ocuntry. She was talking about what hard-working people they were, and it sounded like she said, “They work like whores.” But she was actually saying, “They work like horse,” (she meant to say ‘horses’).
She’s a good sport about it, and laughs at herself. And she speaks more English than I do Spanish, so I can’t complain!
As for this silly comic . . . seems pretty tame to me! What lengths we go to not to offend people!
I’m not a big fan of Bloom County, but I LOVE a book written by Breathed called, “A Wish for Wings That Work.” It’s a Christmas story (in the Santa Claus tradition of xmas) about Opus asking Santa for wings that really work. So cute, and a nice lesson for children (and adults).
