The informants convinced the others that they could get munitions etc. I will bet dollars to donuts (the little Dolly Madison kind to make it worth your while) that this was a bunch of hapless nut jobs (much like Phreedy) that when enabled by the informants appeared more potent. I mean 1/4 of all Polish priests (2,500) died in concentration camps so we can't say the Nazis were really religious friendly. And as far as I know about Russian gulags, they did not permit any expression of religion, let alone a bible. So non-religious or atheists have their own hand in destruction. I don't deny evils perpetrated by major religions - whether directly related to their teachings or failings of their leaders and followers, but don't forget to include those lacking belief in a god or gods at all. It was two millennia of christian anti-semitism that prepped the german people for falling into that nightmare, but I digress. It’s unwavering dogma that’s the real problem. Dogma is essentially built into religion, whereas secularism has almost always been fueled by open debate. Sure you can have dogmatic secularism, but in order to do that you pretty much have to create a quasi-religious institution… for instance national soci_alism or marxism.

I’m not sure about trying to pick the ‘most bad’ of the world’s religions – that role seems to shift through the generations. But it can certainly be argued that islam, or more accurately islamism, is holding the super-scary-ass torch at the moment.
